Do you know how to cook biko?

Biko - This is the first biko that I cooked. Ingredients are sticky rice (malagkit), coconut milk, brown sugar (better to use kamay), a little ginger, lemon and crushed peanuts

Biko is a Filipino delicacy. It is a rice cake cooked in caramel and added with a caramel topping. My first time to prepare biko was during all saints day this year. I wanted to post the picture right away but I had problems with my computer and I waited for a long time to have it fixed. Anyways, I just want to share a picture of the biko that I cooked. Aside from caramel, I also added ginger and lemon then topped the biko with crushed peanuts. Have you tried cooking biko? How did you do it?

Yes you are right zaga_cleuth. When I was younger, we live in the province and biko is always present during birthdays and fiestas. Now that I am in the city, we buy cake for birthdays since we are very busy. We miss having biko on the table so we prepare biko for all saints day or all souls day and during holy week because these are the times when we don't have to go to work. My mom used to cook it but this year, she chose to spend all saints day in the province so I had to cook it myself. Thanks for the reply and happy mylotting :)

Biko - Biko for Noche Buena
Biko is actually sticky rice cooked in coconut milk with sugar added as it begins to cook. Then it is placed and flattened in native bilao that has been lined with banana leaves, then it is garnished with latik which is derived from pure coconut milk. I don't know actually how to cook it mayself but I've been seeing my sister cooking this during special occasion and I think it takes lots of effort. I don't think I'd cook this very hard to cook food but I really so enjoy eating this. In fact this is one of my favorite native delicacies.
