Irritating Messages from Facebook users in mail box...

Since last 5 days, i have been receiving some irritating messages from facebook users, saying that, i am sending some messages or posts to mail box. which i have never did nor will i do ever. still its the same thing repeating. i dont understanding what's happening.
Is it facebook, who is sending those messages to the users with my account or someone else by hacking my account.
and do anyone else also faced/facing these kind a problem.

i have not visited my email until yesterday,, i shocked when i opened my account and got pissed for the mails that i received,, it's almost 1700 and all from facebook,, a had changed my account settings for email notifications but still they keep on sending me those messages,, it really irritates me..

Yup... same case with me too...!!! i too shocked with those mails... dont know how and by whom those mails have come, confusing..

Haha.. Looks like Facebook is also facing increasing problems from spam. Spam is really everywhere in the internet! I believe Facebook's version of the email in the near-future will also face the threat of spam.

Yeah friend... i saw in forums that facebook is one of the best secured social networking sites... but what is happening right now is entirely different.
