Art Films are not mainstremely liked by people they were confusing, They always have those random scene that doesn't make sense and they always have those symbolisms and Psychological scenes. In stories I rather have the director to be direct to the point and tell us the story and not bombard us with symbolisms. Art films explore all movie genres from romance to horror but still I dont like them. They were torturing to watch because you dont understand what is going on. I remember I use to date this girl who loves art movies and she forced me do have an art film marathon with her.... well its more torturing than romance movies and chick flicks. I felt like having a seizure.

I do get where you're coming from. I actually don't like much of the art films we have unless I have heard some really good stuff about it from friends or from reviews and the media. If it's an art film that seems to intrigue people, I try to watch it. Sometimes, I like some of the psychological puzzles you've mentioned that are quite present on these art films but they definitely bore me at most times.

The last Art film I watch is the Psychological film "number 23" I didnt like it at all. I was able to finish it but I wont rewatch it at all...No way.. I think psychological sequences are all right as long as the movie wont be flooded by them. As long as we can still follow the story and be aware what the heck is going on. But if every scene is a puzzle then that is going to be a snore fest.

Art films... they were soooo very boring and horrible to me... I just could not make anything out of them. I failed to understand why would someone make a movie that falls over anyone's head and logic.
The newer generation of these called as Off-beats seems to be better than these. I dont understand still the point - why have this type of cinema when the ticket prices are soaring high and piracy is rampant.

Thats the reason why art films cant get mainstreme success, Its hard to understand them, It makes you want to scratch your head since you dont get the plot or story, you just see weird scenes that is hard to figure out.

I guess the main purpose of art films is not to follow the plot or hope for some nice special effects. Just let your mind drift to any thoughts you might have watching those movies. Take them easy. Don't take them to seriously :)

Are you able to endure wtaching them despite of all those random scenes that doesnt make sense? I remember in an art film the scene is liek this: A woman goes home from work and she sleeps inside the closet, she opens the fridge and then there is a running hallucinating man and he falls then he wokes up, hen then suddenly he saw a girl that will jumkb the balcony and he saved her and she runs then a group of birds fly then there is a a homeless person trying to scavenge thing from the trash can and he founds a doll then more random things appear.
