How do I get my two parakeets to talk?

I've had these two parakeets for a month or two now. I've read articles about them to get them to talk you need to talk to him as much as possible and make them feel as they're a part of your 'flock'. I let them fly around in the house and they're finger trained, talk to them a bunch. But they still don't talk besides chirping and such, any suggestions?

We have a Rosy Bourke parakeet and from what I understand a parakeet will not "talk" per-say, such as one can get a parrot to speak words as we know them. A Parakeet will mimic the sounds of words and that's about it. If you happen on learning otherwise, please do inform me. I was researching this topic myself as I do talk with the parakeet but I do so by whistling, mimicking her chirps. It is hilarious as she starts getting rather active and chirps back. We continue to whistle back and forth for a couple hours. She really enjoys it. In researching, I came upon these links that may be of interest for further reading: Can I Teach My Parakeet to Talk? http://www.bourkesparakeets.com/can-i-teach-my-bourkes-parakeet-to-talk Training Your Parakeet to Talk http://www.bourkesparakeets.com/training-your-bourkes-parakeet Lastly, here is a link for more information regarding Parakeets http://www.bourkesparakeets.com/ Enjoy! They are truly a fun bird to have around. I am glad that you have two as I sometimes think that the one we have must get lonely sometimes, judging by her behavior when I 'talk' with her. Happy Holidays!

Seriously? What words did the Bourke say? Do you recall? I find this most interesting. Ours does not say words but does indeed mimic words by way of whistling. Such a sweet bird. If I can find a photo of her, I will post it. She is pink. Thank you for your response. I shall look into this further as it would be really neat if Rosy would talk some in addition to whistling and chirping.

I have heard that it is no use trying to teach a bird to imitate you if you have two of them. You have to have a one-to-one relationship with the bird.
