Mud holes and rain shampoos

I was looking through the different interests just passing time and one in particular caught my eye. Playing in the rain. I had instant memories of childhood. We would aften run outside when a strong rain shower fell and take our bottle of shampoo and stand under the rain spout and have a nice rain shampoo. I don't remember how we ever started this I just remember how much fun it was. The smell of the rain was so delicious. It was nice to have that smell in our hair afterwards. We also spent our share of time in the mud holes during and after the rain. (maybe that's why we needed the shampoos ;) I remember standing in the mud holes and letting the mud squish between my toes. Kind of a yucky thought now but way back then it was a big thrill. We had our share of mud fights also. Had to be careful of rocks hidden in the mud though, didn't want to really hurt anyone. After all the mud fighting there always came the spraying down with the water hose. Pure fun! I don't think kids do this kind of thing anymore. This kind of fun was part of a bygone era. Along with rolling around in the grass just because it smelled so good and was so soft. Of course we had to suffer with the chigger bites later but it was worth it. Do you have memories of long lost childhood fun that just doesn't happen anymore? Share some of your fun with me.

Yes, I do have such memories, it's nice to recall them now, when you're not doing that kind of stuff anymore. I also remember myself having fun under the rain, jumping in and over the puddles and making paper ships and letting them float in puddles. I can still see a picture of one summer day years ago... I was outside with my friends, the weather was sunny, but there were rain clouds approaching the area. It started to rain, but sun still remained visible. Rainbow appeared. It was a simple, usual, but very beautiful moment that remains in my memory.

Oh, I had forgotten about floating those little paper boats in the water holes! I sure do remember the beautiful rainbows after a summer rain. Things were much simpler then, weren't they? You won't find many kids today enjoying the purely simple, free, fun things that we used to. Thanks for sharing your memories.

Those are the best childhood memories with my friends when I was a child, and I never forgot every single of them. Nowadays, kids in my village don't do the same thing anymore, they play different way. I also remember when we are on the way back from primary school which was 30 minutes walk back to our village, we would stopped at the usual spot at the river to have a swim together. It was very fun especially when the sun is so bright and hot. I really miss that time and never even seen any kid swimming in the river anymore nowadays. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day

That sounds really inviting, a swim in the river on a hot summer day. Especially after a long walk like that. I remember swimming in the bayou during the summers where I grew up on the Texas coast. That's where I learned how to swim, my brother threw me in and told me to swim. So I did, rather than drown :) I'm glad to hear you have such good memories of childhood fun, too.

Oh yes, This was wonderful. We used to step hard in the puddles to see how high we could make them splash. There is another thing people could do today that is great. Rest on your back of a beautiful spring day and just watch all those clouds float by. All your stress floats out the window. You are right. There are wonderful things beyond computers and video games. There is life. Let's hope the children of today don't miss it.

Oh, you are so right. There are so many simple pleasures that children of today may never experience. Computers and other technologies keep them very busy inside. I remember laying in the grass and looking up to the clouds and finding different shapes. Sometimes we just had wrestling matches in the grass. Nothing serious just play. I can remember so many simple childhood pleasures, makes me very nostalgic for simpler times.
