I bet it's a virus corrupting the OS startup files. Try to boot in safe mode first, and see if it works well. If it does, run antivirus, antispyware, everything you have. If it does not solve anything, try repair the installation. Also a hardware fault may be responsible. Power supply and RAM modules are the first in causing troubles often, and be sure to check the CPU cooler for overheating. If all that don't help, I think the best is to reinstall Windows from scratch.

Well you can try a simple solution for this. Try to restore the system in backdate. I hope you will be aware of the procedure. If the problem doesnot solve, then format the computer ensuring proper backup of the system.

Hi asliah! We'll try troubleshooting on the hardware then the software. There might be a problem on your Power Supply (not the AVR), try to change your power supply if you had a spare one or you can borrow from your friends just for testing purposes. Do you use external video cards? If you do, try to remove it then use your on-board video card, the one on your motherboard. If nothing happens, try to plug it back then try swapping your RAMs then turn it on again. If problems still persist, try to repair your Operating system (XP, VISTA, WIN 7) it depends on what operating system you use. You need to have the Operating System disk. Boot the disk upon start-up then look for the repair option. Good luck!

I think I have experienced a similar problem before. I recall it was not a hardware problem, but rather a virus problem. There are some viruses that shutdown your computer after starting Windows.

There are two reason when your computer automatically shutdown: 1. your computer has infect virus, it's let your windows automatically shutdown when it's log in. In this case, the best advice for you is reinstall your computer. 2. Your CPU temperature is overload. In this case, you must bring your computer to technique man to repair it. To find out what is the true reason. If whenever your computer log in at shutdown, it's really the first cause. If your computer log in to window and a few minutes after that it's shutdown, maybe it's because of second reason! Have a good day mate!
