Could you imagine Christmas without Santa Claus?

I am just curious about how Christmas would be without the tradition of Santa Claus or somebody else who brings the gifts. In our culture the Angel brings the gifts, but this is not so important.Important is that every culture has a tradition of gift at Christmas. How it would be, if this would not exist?

I think Christmas without Santa is useless. Everyone grew up knowing there will be a Santa every Christmas. A Christmas without Santa would not be fun. Everyone is expecting to get a gift from Santa every Christmas time.

Very true. Although we now know the truth, we still talk about him or any other personification of him, which defers from culture to culture. I wouldn't take the joy which a child feels when receiving the Christmas gift under the tree from anybody. May the Christmas spirit live forever!

Hi merry Christmas, Santa Claus has been a man that is consider as akin to Jesus or an Angel in any countries, we all call them as Santa Claus.I think it would be a little bit sad or less fun if Santa Claus is not part. In my opinion Santa Clause had been consider here in my country as an Angel by young ones, that if you are a good boy/girl for the whole year then Santa Clause will give you a gift on Christmas.

Merry Christmas to you to. Yes, Christmas wouldn't be the same without Santa Claus or any other personification of Christmas spirit. The joy which we feel when receiving the desired gift under the Christmas tree is one of a kind. I know that I miss the days when I was a child and waited for the Angel to come and bring me something.

I believed in Santa Claus when I was a kid, but I now know the truth. LOL So, Santa Claus is not something I give a lot of thought to these days. I try to remember what Christmas is truly about.

Yes, you are right, Christmas should be more about celebrating the birth of Christ, but when I was a child, it was a fantastic feeling when received the gifts under the Christmas tree.

Cute post, see whether or not people actually believe and or felt it was a total myth, I have always just felt that it was a treat. I always told my kids that when they believe in their heart that Santa does not exist then it is done. They understand that it was simply a joy and anticipation of something we shared as a family. So I personally cannot imagine not having a Christmas without the feeling of Santa.

I remember how good it was, being a child, and expecting the Angel(the one which brings the gifts on Christmas Eve). I was always surprised that the Angel knows what I want, even if I didn't write a letter. After I knew the truth, Christmas wasn't the same anymore. Wish I could feel that joy again!

Well, I think every culture that celebrates Christmas will always have some sort of tradition like that because people love to give and receive gifts. But if they didn't, perhaps some new tradition would emerge that would be more deeply centered in religion since the whole gift-giving thing has become so secular and commercial. Christmas probably wouldn't be as busy a time for people if there wasn't any gift giving since there wouldn't be any shopping or gift exchange parties. Maybe the emphasis on food would be even greater if no one did gifts.

Yes, but I think that there is no such joy for a child then receiving his gift on Christmas Eve under the tree. He hopes that he will receive a special gift and that is why the excitement is so big. I agree that Christmas has become more about shopping, but I think if everybody would make his shopping in time, then it wouldn't be so much rush.

A Christmas without Santa Claus would make Christmas a less-favored holiday. Kids from everywhere around the world look forward to this time of year because Santa brings them gifts on the 25th of December. Santa Claus can be considered a major theme for the holiday and is why everyone is in such a good mood around this season. I personally, enjoy to watch Christmas movies my family every year and almost every movie mentions Santa Claus somewhere in the movie. Without Santa, Christmas just would not be the same.

Yes, although it shouldn't be the most important thing in Christmas, Santa Claus is the personification of the so called Christmas spirit. So I think that it is good that almost every culture in the world has this tradition, which makes millions of children happy.

Hi rappeter, We are in Summer now so our Christmas is with a VERY WARM poor imported Santa. In our family we always new that it was our parents who brought the presents. But there was always a Santa at a big store, for children to tell him their wishes. I remember my mom took me to see a Santa once, when I was about 3 years old. I was terrified! I did not want to have presents only if I had been good. I wasn´t. I fought with my siblings, I did not eat all my food. I grabed and broke my brother´s toys. I think that it´s nice to know that your parents love you so much that they will get you a present even if they are not well off. Presents at Christmas are ways of showing love. Santa doesn´t know me: my family and friends do. Right now, this old lady Santa is taking a break from kitchen work. I am making good things for our Christmas get together. I already made the pots for the friends that will get plants from me (my own, grown by me from seed). I am Santa, rappeter. And you can be Santa too

Hi I am from India.. And Christmas is not that famous festival here. But still everyone knows about this festival. From my childhood whenever i listen about Christmas the first thing come in my mind is Santa. So I guess we really can't imagine Christmas without Santa. At least i can't imagine.

Nope. Giving and receiving presents is what Christmas is all about for me. It's a time to show people that you care about them. I'm not a religious person, so if I didn't exchange gifts with the important people in my life, I probably wouldn't even celebrate Christmas.

I see. I am a religious person, so the birth of Christ is what we celebrate, but the myth of Santa Claus and the giving and receiving of presents makes Christmas being so special for everybody.
