I brought my kittens home last night. They turned 6 weeks old on Sunday, and had been eating and using the litter for awhile. I talked to my friend over the weekend, who owns the momma cat, and asked her if she thought they were ready.. she figured they were, but we both decided a few more days wouldn't hurt. I had planned to get them tomorrow night.
Well she sent me a message last night begging me to come pick them up. She just found out she is 8 weeks pregnant, so she's dealing with all the wonderful things pregnancy brings.. like exhaustion and morning sickness. Well the 4 kittens raise holy heck all night long keeping her awake.. she hoped sending the 2 of them home with me would quiet things down enough to help her get some sleep.
So I went and got them, and they seem to have adjusted just fine. They're extremely playful, which I think is cute as all heck since it's been ages since I've had a kitten in my house! Their favorite toy is of course my Christmas tree! They were batting at the ornaments last night, and today I actually caught them climbing the tree. One of them got about half way up before I took her off the tree. The sad thing is it's an artificial tree.. so I really didn't think they'd mess with it much. I guess I was wrong. I'm just glad they're not big enough to knock it over.
Here's a picture of one of the kittens in the tree.. this is Eclipse.. his sister is named Twilight! Don't ya just love those names? LOL
Do your cats climb your tree or bat at your ornaments?

Hey kats! I have to first say that you look absolutely "gorgous"
in your "Christmas Photo" this year-and hubby looks pretty good
himself!lol I haven't dared to put my tree up in the 7 Christmas'
since I got Star & Luna! Star is a major climber and I know
he would be on top of the tree and Luna would probably follow!
And I Eclipse (incredibly perfect names) looks alot like my
Star if she has green eyes. My cats are boys (with girls names)!
I had the names before the cats, as I always do! I love having
kittens. I would have more, but Luna wouldn't be able to deal
with it. He barely tolerates Star and they were littermates!

Thank you! That was us all dressed up for hubby's company party.. and yes I did look darn good, didn't I? LOL
Star and Luna are really nice names too, and so what if they're boys. I named one of my cats Toby long before I realized Toby was a girl.

I don't have a cat but the story reminds me of National Lampoons Christmas Vacation movie...I bet they are really cute! Hope they eventually leave the tree alone so they don't destroy it! Christmas is almost here though...so it won't be long until we take them down again.

I am already looking forward to taking it down.. not because of the cats though, mostly because of the kids. That's how I feel every year.

My sister got three kittens a few months ago. The first night we had our Christmas tree all the cats did were sniff at it and walk around it. Then the night that we decorated it, one of them started to play with one of the ornaments. She knocked it off the Christmas tree and kept playing with it. No matter how many times we would put the ornament back on the tree, she would knock it down and play with it again. Over and over again, with the same ornament. Finally she stopped and they haven't played with the ornaments much after that. Although one night all three cats got underneath the tree and were rolling around. I'm surprised that none of them have climbed the tree yet.

I've always had cats and never before have I had a cat climb a tree.. normally they leave it alone, and previously we've had real trees too. I figure it's just that these guys are so playful still.

LOL It doesn't matter that the tree is fake, cats will climb anything! Kittens are so cute when they get into trouble. I'm surprised you brought them home when they were 6 weeks old. I didn't think kittens could leave their mothers until they were 8 weeks old. I've got a 10 year old male cat, and he would just love a tree to climb, and that's why we don't have one. LOL It's bad enough when he climbs my book shelf.

They can leave momma anywhere between 6 and 8 weeks. My kittens stopped nursing about a week ago and have been using the litter for about a week.. so they were ready.

Since I'm on my own, (apart from the cats) I never bother with a tree. With seven cats, two of them 7 month old kittens, it's probably just as well, since I think that they'd have the whole thing over in no time. Love the photo though! Three of mine are black as well, Shadow, now 1 1/2 years old and the two kittens who are called Star and Comet. Star has a small white patch on the chest and Comet has a long fluffy tail - like a comet you see? And Stars and Comets go together as well as you can see from the photo.

Our kitten is about 10 months old. He is still a little playful. Sometimes you'd think he was being chased by an imaginary friend lol. The first few days after we put the ornaments up we were finding one in the hallway in the morning. It seems to have stopped though, I think we got all the lower ones that he was able to get off put up higher. I love having kittens too! It is the best part. We always had kittens growing up. I like the names too lol.

My older cats used to do that, it was so funny. I adore having the babies in the house, they're so fun to watch and to play with. They don't snuggle much yet though.. hopefully soon they'll be used to us enough to be snuggly!

hi katsmeow oh how cute she looks likes shes hiding there, i do not have any cats now as I am in thiu retirement center but years back I had a black tom who loved to bat at the christmas tree ornaments but one had a sound effect thing in it and when Midnight batted it it yelled out ho ho ho Merry Christmas, that poor tom i guess he thought it was from the devil or something,he took off like a shot ahd hide under the sofa, which space was barely enough for him to squish into. lol poor Midnight after that he would walk around the tree but when he saw the talking ornament He would just hiss and growl. He did not bat anymore oranments but he got a piece of tinsel and batted it all over the house.

How funny! Maybe I should get a talking ornament next year to keep my cats away from the tree!

Love your kitten's names. It's been a long time since I've had a kitten and a Christmas tree at the same time. I do remember putting unbreakable ornaments on the lower branches and the breakable ones high up out of the reach of the cats. I remember one adult cat who kept trying to unwrap all the presents under the tree. A picture in the family album that I dearly love is one of our daughter when she was 8 or 9 years old. She got a Barbie motor home for Christmas and was pushing it around with her kitten sitting in the driver's seat.

Way back when we had kittens decades ago yes.
But I live alone now with my own furkids: Opal, Cleo, both maltese x shih tzus, and Chloe my beautiful ragdoll.
I no longer put up christmas trees...no point, no one visits anyway. But I remember way back when, and I remember how much we cursed every time we heard another bauble go crashing down. We've since invested in non breakable christmas ornaments. :)

Hehehehehe! I love cats... when we do have Christmas tree he loves to play ith it also but we always tell him not to play there. He is a very submissive cats... when you told him to sleep he will sleep... except when he realy wants to go out and play... which we always allow because when he cries arggghh!!! its so noisy.
His name is Munelito and call him MUningnign for short... he is the very handsome cat in the neighborhood. He is a very nice cat and a smart one too. when he has allergy he will show it to my mom... and my mom will put medicine on it... and he loves to take a bath too except when it is cold. He is cute and we love him very much!

I'm very surprised at my kitten. She's an older kitten, 7 month old or so but she has not get into the tree nor seems interested. I actually hung some ornaments low and under the tree a bit so she would have something to batt at but she has only done that once. She's normally frisky as can be, but not towards the tree. I better get up and knock on wood now :))
