I'm still getting use to biding and buying on ebay and I was recently browsing a listing for a netbook priced at under $100 dollars is that real or a scam, of course my first thought is its gotta be a scam because its almost too good to be true I mean there's gotta be somthing wrong with it.
Anyway whats the cheapest deal for an electronic item you ever gotten on ebay? and how can you tell if the listings a scam?

I look at the rating of the seller. That tells alot. If the rating is below 90 I don't like to deal with them. I check out what others have said about their business practice if it is lower. Sometimes, it is not because the seller tried to scam someone that gave them a lower rating from a buyer.
Read the fine print. The thing might not have a hard drive, battery, etc. Ask the seller questions about the item.
I would not buy it though. You are getting something old that probably cannot run well because of the size of the HD. New programs are bigger and need more HD space to run properly. Why would it be sold for that price if it were adequate? Something is not right.
If you want one, save your money and buy one from a reputable store. That is what I would do. I got burned from someone who sold me a computer cheap. Thing is so old I was told by my computer guy to pitch it. It runs like a 2 legged deer in quicksand.

Excellent advice, rosegardens! Totally agree!
Checking the feedback is the most important thing! Most scammers have no feedback, so I try to stay away from them, even if the deal is amazing, because you never know...

I hope you are able to find a good machine for a great price!
Do you know anyone that works on them and builds them? I had a computer built for me according to my specifications in 2000, and just last year I had to replace it because it was getting too slow. 9-10 years for a computer to run good is amazing! Usually after only 4-5 years it begins to bog down. The older machines just cannot keep up with the new data being fed to them.
My home built computer had the state of the art technology available at the time, and cost me less than 1/2 what it would have cost for a lower grade machine at a shop or through ebay. It cost me $350.00 back when, and decent machines were going over the $500.00 mark, and those were not as fast as mine.

Well, mine is a digital scale for $5.45 including shipping. It's cheap and the digital scale is superb! Works just fine and pretty accurate.
I also sell on ebay, so I need good scale to find out the exact shipping cost. I am glad I found the scale

I once bought a pair of spycam sunglasses on eBay for $80. On the "official" sites they're sold on, they go for around $180.
Unfortunately, when I got them, they didn't work that well. Not well at all, really. So I had to send it back and fortunately got a refund for them.
I don't know if that counts or not since I had to send it back, but yep. Normally I always just bought DVDs on eBay back when I still used it frequently. I typically got those for around $5 or so.

for me the cheapest thing i bought is a vuvuzela. cost me US$9. my mom bought a babysit for about $50. i think the only way to detect a scam is when the seller is very very eager to receive the payment. if you are unsure about the product and feels that it is a scam, try to drag the payment with some excuses like "my credit card is out of credit" or "i am registering a new credit card". if the seller is eager and asks you to pay via your bank account, then you have to be careful.

i've never shopped in ebay before..but i like to check out what they are selling and its kinda weird because some of the stuff are really cheap thats why it always set me back on buying stuff there. I mean i dont have any assurance that i'll have my money back or that i'll get a good deal.
