Do you or don't you want a salesperson assisting you all the time or on standby?

When we go in stores, the usual case is either there's no salesperson in the area you're at or an annoying one is following you all the time and assisting you when you don't need assistance. Between these two circumstances, which do you prefer? Me, I try as much as possible to "dodge" areas with salespersons. I dislike being bugged when I'm just browsing. I understand they're just doing their jobs (and some of them are soooooo dedicated, really) but I hope they can tell a customer who's just browsing from a customer who's looking for something. After all, shopping isn't just about looking for a specific thing or buying all the time. It's also the fun of "hunting" or just looking at the items. I really hate it when I'm just browsing and a salesperson says "we have this," "that's our new item," "that's on sale," and so on. If I need assistance, I would ask. However, it is sometimes ironic that when I'm in an area and I AM looking for something, there's no salesperson to assist. So it's actually ambivalent of me to not want and want them there. How about you, is it all right if there are salespersons assisting you all the time, or do you like to be left alone and only be assisted when you ask? Have a nice day and happy myLotting!

I don't like to be stalked by salepeople either. I would rather them be in and area that is centrallu located..that way if I needed anything, I could find them...lol. It has been either one extreme or another for me...either they are following me all over the store or I can't find one anywhere. You know what? There are a lot of people that feel bothered by salespeople and high pressure sales tactics. I have not bought from places because of this before when I had every intention of buying when I walked in the door. Surely owners will realize one day that it actually turns people away. I think the problem might also be that salespeople are often paid by commision. Or at least some by commision. They can't pay their bills if they don't jump on the chance to sale stuff. Anyway..no..I hate to be followed through the store.

Hahaha, yes. I find the extreme opposites true most times. I hate it when they follow me but when I need one, no one is there. Oh yeah, maybe a commission system might be pushing salespeople to try and sell their products no matter what, even if it bugs the customers alreaay. Thanks for the response and have a nice day!

i better alone and let them leave me... if the sellers is not assisting me, i can read the product more descriptively so i can see the product more detail. i have free to decide too whether i want to buy it or not/ while the assistance could force me to buy it

maybe that is why they are there. to get the sales higher. to force us buying things that we don't really need it. do you think it is fair if we buy something when we feel we are force to buy it?

Yeah! When they are around, you will be forced to buy things you don't even need and those that you are just checking out.

When shopping, I like to be left alone cause I'm a pretty independent person, I know what I want and can pretty much decide for my self. So I do not like being followed or pestered around by a sales person, i'll call them if I need them, the only exception would be is if the sales person is pretty or attractive hehe, just being honest.

I want to shop without the salespersons by my side. I don't want them following me all around the store as if I'm a shoplifter. I just want them when I need them. I know it is their job but can't they at least give us some space?

hello mabel,' if they leave you in peace, they can't sell anything sometimes i understand that this is their job, they have pressure to sell in target. they need it to make money and for their family.

Thanks for the response! That is so true. Sometimes, they are just frowning and they seem like they can't smile and they're so angry. I also feel shy when someone asks what I'm looking for but I'm just canvassing.

I'm not comfortable having someone on my side wherever I go to search some stuff. To avoid him from going after me I'll inform him or her beforehand that I'm just just browsing items around.

I hate when there's a salesperson there following you to every meter of the store that you visit. That's really annoying. Most of the times you are just curious or viewing if there's something interesting to buy, so you don't need any help. But that salesperson insists in helping you. So, answering to your question, I prefer not to deal with a salesperson.

I don't, I hate it when they ask. Sometimes I feel so bad for telling them I don't need any help.
