counseling on personel issues

My husband of 27yrs has just told me that as a child he was abused by another child. We both went to counselling on another issue and this is when he dicided to tell me with the help of the counselor. I have alway thought that he had lots of confidence but he has said he has none and finds it difficult to talk and about most things. It has come as a huge shock and i find it difficult to deal with. I would like to help but find i say the wrong things. I have asked him how i can help. He just says being there is all he needs and that finally telling me has given him release. My husband has wanted to tell me many times and on many occasions has nearly blurted it out to me Because of the christmas season and just been told of the abuse it will be awhile before i get to visit my counselor again to tell her my fears and concerns for my husband. I wondered if anyone out there has been through similar issues or there maybe a counselor reading this that could help me until i get to visit my counselor in the new year. Thank you merry xmas and all the best to everyone in the new yearxx

Hi. theskerne. Welcome to myLot! I am very sorry about what your husband has experienced. I hope that as time goes by, he will heal. I know that it is going to be hard, but with your love and support, he will overcome his sadness and pain. Continue to keep God into your life. Everything will be okay. I am not a doctor and I can't give you medical advice, but I can give you some advice that will help you to be strong and get through this dilemma with your husband. I hope that by now, he has gotten the treatment that he needs. Take care and God Bless you both.
