Brett Lee had declared his retirement from the longer version of the game out of frustration of recurring injuries. Latest being elbow injury and recovering from remedial surgery. He is likely to play in O.D.I. against touring English side. Problem with the all out fast ballers like Brett Lee and Shoaib Akhtar is that they give everything they have in delivering a ball and hence prone to injury unlike ballers like McGrath , Kapil Dev and like who keep enough residual energy while delivering even their fastest deliveries hence the longevity in the game. Australia always boasted of enough pool of fast ballers and when any individual does not perform to the satisfaction of the officials concerned, he is replaced. Players like Nathan Bracken or Stuart Clark would have been regulars in any other test side.

CA never selects players who are recovering from injuries or out of form players usually. May be they feel the present bowlers are more effective than Lee, Clark and Bracken. Whatever I think CA might have reserved these players for the all important world cup. I even did not see Bollinger playing as well, surprisingly less named players are playing Ashes more than any thing else..
