Mylot population is indicated at the bottom of the page. But what is the number of active members in mylot. There should be a indication of this as well like the number of members online at present. It would make more sense rather than the total number, which may include some of those who have not logged in for months or even years.

Hi elsoft, Every site has its unique features. Might be mylot is not interested in showing the number of people who are on line or are active. Active or not active can be calculated through one's participation itself. And the number that is shown is not the actual number that Mylot possesses. This is the all time registered numbers. Some have left and some are just like that.

Well, you have a point there. I f we really want to choose those who are only active users yto interact with, there's should somehow an indication that will tell us. Though, we can check their profiles one by one but it is a little inconvenient to do so. The last time they logged in will reflect in the profile plus the number of post they created and responses they made will also help in a way or so. But, I don't think it is really much of a need to see if who is active or not here. We can only interact with those active and those who are idle in status or inactive are rarely to be found especially if they are not included in our friends' list.:)

Well.A simple indicator something like a Green LED display of a user is online will save you so much of effort isnt considering what mention to check their last logged in time, their posts, etc.

Ah, yes. . That makes sense. I have seen such indicators in other sites I am a member of ,too. I hope admin will consider adding such feature here, too.[/em]

HI elsoft ! It is a long time since you peeped in here.Or I must have missed some discussions of yours.I am fairly inactive though I do peep in every day, write a couple of responses, start a rare discussion and push off.

Actually, this site is spread over entire world and we don't have the same time zone everywhere. When it's morning for someone it might be the mid night for me.. So, it's of no use to indicate current users online... But, the idea of active users online indication would be good.. But, what if it goes much below? Then we cannot expect new comers. The only way to attract new comers is to indicate the overall population of the site. Anyway, your ideas are quite excellent and if implemented it will do more good for most of the users !!

Hi guna, The time zone is a great cause and that should support my reason too

I donot see timezone as a problem. In fact because of the time zone probably there are going to members online continuously all through the time.Well, they can keep the total population figure in addition to the current online strength,so that new comers arent chased away.

Hi elsoft, That is a good thought but what is the use? We are not a site where there is a chat option or any other plug-in where you can know or use the info regarding who is online at the moment. In fact being a web programmer, I know that this is a gimmick on many sites. Technically, it would not only add a burden on the resource usage of the website as there are a huge number of users online at any given time but also increase the tasks of the Admin. I believe those who are on the technicalities would agree with me here. Also I am scared if the site doesnt load up fast. Adding such a feature would make it slow in performance. But if you could point out some great use of this stats, I might support and join the cause. Cheers, theSids.

My basic idea is to make the site more interesting and make it feature rich.It may be a task for the owners and admin, but that would make the site easier to navigate and the interactions among the community members will be increasing.Thats helps the site grow and may be the owners get back what they have invested.Thats the idea Sids. Now do you support the idea.

Yah i also agree with you. That could be better if it is indicated if how many mylot members are online So that we are also aware if what is the status of mylot members.

That is one way to suggest for the update of myLot. I agree and I hope admins see this post and consider this as a good upgrade. I also wanted how myLot have come so far with this 200k plus members.

I cannot agree with you more. That would be much more clear. If we know who is online, we can communicate with them directly.and We can leave messages by each other . We can make more friends online.
