What is a lie? Is it true there is a small and a big lie? I thought that any lie has no size.

A lie is whenever someone tells something to another person that isn't the truth. I do think that there is a difference between different kinds of lies. A small lie would be something like letting and encouraging our children to believe in Santa Claus. There is no harm at all in this kind of a lie. However, there are lies that are told to deliberately hurt another person and I tend to think of those kinds of lies as big lies.

I agree that lies have no size..what starts out small usually just grows. There are always more lies to cover up the once little lie and before you know it..it's a huge one. Now there are those like one of your responders mentioned that is innocent as far as a surprise or something that. It is the hurtful lies that grow and feed off of more lies. Thoae are the nasty ones that you have to worry about in my opinion.

What a simple little word and yet the meaning is so complex. If a lie were only a spoken untruth that would be easy, but what about an unspoken truth? Or a statement that contains the truth but is told in such a way as to mislead another? How about the lie that is so common it is no longer realized as a lie, or one that starts out wrong and then becomes truth? The most common lie I can think of is not always a lie but often is? Can you guess what it is? It's the response to the greeting; "How are you?" (Fine, is the polite response, but how often is that true?)

No there are types of lies and they are both differant the small one is obviously something not so serious but the second one a big lie is really bad it can break relationships and marriages and also friendships between some friends that you might have. I hope this helped your discussion and merry christmas.

It don't think that we can measure lies physically but I do believe that there is intensity in lies. Effect of some lies of can be very much intense that would affect or hurt others very much. Some times we may tell lies just for fun without affecting others.
