Recently, the Ministry of Health of my country, Malaysia has promoting 6 hints to live healthy by consuming less sugar in our daily drinks and foods.
The 6 hints are as below:
1. Consume plain water instead of consuming pop and any other sweet drinks.
2. Apply only 1 teaspoon of sugar or sweetened milk in each cup of beverage.
3. Less sugar in our cooking.
4. No snacks and sweet foods during the period after our main meals and before our
bedtime.
5. Consume the fruits and not the sweet cakes.
6. No foods and beverages that listed the sugar in the first place in the
ingredients on the label.
7. Consume only those with Less Sugar or Sugar Free packaging of drinks and foods.
These 6 hints are just a slogan in Less Sugar campaign.
In your opinion, does these 6 hints will be good enough to prevent the high consuming of sugar among the people within this country?
For me, the relevant authority should impose more strategy rules to reduce the risk of high sugar consuming among the people.
For instance, they should set up more healthy and nutrition food retail centers starting from the government offices . The price of those healthy and nutrition foods should be affordable and economic to everyone.
Any other suggestion you have ? Let's share here.

I find that these are very good suggestions. It is difficult when you are not at home to find better, healthy selections though. However, most places are getting better at offering healthier alternatives since people here are mostly becoming more health conscious! I think it is a great list.

That's amazing because when my son was in the hospital they had very few healthy choices to pick from. There was a salad place but it was real expensive. The other didn't even seem to know what "healthy" meant. The veggies were swimming in bacon and other fats! Their "vegetarian" meals had bacon in them too.. I had a very difficult time figuring out how to eat there!

Yes, everyone should live in a healthier way.
I went to a state hospital at other country, the cafeteria was selling only the healthy foods.
I couldn't find a single pop drink, a deep fried meat at all.
The price of the foods and drinks were very much cheaper than outside.
I was shocked at first because such a large hospital never sold the pop and fried chicken.
Now, I understand the intention of such effort in providing those foods and drinks in the cafeteria.

there are many ways and these are some of them.i really like those hints.most of us always think we know what to do and what to eat but do not do it practcally. hopefully people will not just see this as a slogan but have their own initiative to consume less sugar.the important is always our ownself.if we do not take the first step, hundreds and more same campaigns will be useless~

This seems to be quite an acceptable publicity approach to popularize the health benefits of low intake of sugar in daily diets of general public. It serves to help prevent prevalence of diabetics and related ailments that attack people due to excessive sugar and carbohydrates. The Government intention to ensure good public health is a positive move. However,it would be more effective if the Government supports or sponsors local level and community level institutions and NGOs to carry it forward through extensive campaigns and integrate it to their existing health education programmes.

Great list but I take exception to number 7. In place of sugar they use cancer inducing sugar substitutes. I am a sacharin person, I use sweet and low in everything. But it has draw backs too. I would recommend stevia. They have not found anything wrong with this one.

I find your post hightly interesting. Where are those hints shown? It is important to educate people. As for retail centers, it seems that that´s another conversation. Plain water is cheper than sweet drinks everywhere and it is also cheper to use little sugar (or none as I do) in coffee or tea.
I would add from experience that home made foods have less sugar content than canned food.
How about goverments starting nutrition and cooking lessns for people at low prices? It would be awesome in my country. Poor people many times spend more money in food than they should for lack of knowledge.

Both sugar and salt can be had in natural foods. The white sugar we use is , as you say, a poisoon that does noy help any to our nutrition.
Your government is wise!

I get used to the sweet foods and drinks.
My children are having the same habit too.
Once I have seen this campaign, I start to alert myself and my children for not consuming sugar so much.
As our government claimed, sugar is just liked poison in our daily meals.
