Today was Christmas, and the poorest one I have ever had. I had no money to buy gifts for my loved ones, not even my children and yet I actually enjoyed Christmas today. The reason I still had a good holiday is because of my wonderfully sweet neighbor. She knew that my family was having a hard time lately and she made today a great day. Last night she surprised my children with lots of toys and candy, and then today she invited my family to her church to eat Christmas dinner and rejoice. We all had a great time, and I have her to thank for that. I feel really blessed today and I just wanted to share it with you all.
Has anyone else had a time where everything seemed to be going so badly, and then had someone or something come into your life and make everything all better? Tell me your miracle stories and how your holiday went today.
Merry Christmas mylotters!

I have a bad holiday, because I never stops to work. Not because I am a workaholic but because I have a lot work to do. And it seems I will pass this holiday by working and new work always come.

Working through the holiday is never fun, I have done that before and I hated it. I had no choice in the matter at the time, but if you do, you should take a little time out to enjoy the holidays. Besides, your work will still be there after the holiday, so take some time for yourself and enjoy life. Tomorrow is not promised to any of us, so we have to live for the day.
Have a happy New Year.

kay, I am so glad I read your discussion, as it is restoring my faith in people. I have had a really tough year where as I have lost everything I worked so hard to achieve.
All of my so called friends have abandoned me where as I do not even get a single call as to how I am doing. I have re strengthened my faith with God and my Christmas with my children was beautiful. We did not have much but we had a very peaceful one, rejoicing our ability to be able to share a Christmas together.
So after you posting this I am so happy to hear that you and your children had a very lovely and peaceful Christmas. I will remember your discussion forever, to where I can remember that there are good people in this life time.
Take care and many blessings to you and your children.

I'm sorry your friends didn't give you a call and that your year has been tough, believe me I understand exactly where you're coming from. The good thing is that you had a good time with your children and could rejoice with them. My neighbor is very into her church and does a lot with them, so I was very happy that she included my family in the festivities. She made Christmas for my children one of the happiest, and I will never forget how nice she was to all of us. I feel blessed to know such a nice woman and have her as a friend.
And don't forget hardworking, you have friends here at mylot. We will always be here for you and I send blessing to you and your family too.

Hurray for your neighbor!
I spent Christmas alone, away from my family. It was a choice actually since I needed internet connection in case there are issues at work (I'm supporting on a holiday). I just used the time to really chill at home, catch up on sleep, watch what's on TV, and do whatever else I wasn't able to do for the past weeks. Surprisingly, I was ok with it, thank God. I'm looking forward to the New Year break to be with my family though. :)

Hi kay,
We have a lot to thank for especially this season of giving. I was like you are and I also experienced the kindness of those around me. We have no money but our table is full of good things that rich people have. I wonder why it ever came at all, and I realized the spirit of giving is very much alive.
What I am most thankful is the good health of my family including me. We can still gaze at the fireworks, go to the beach and play on the sand, walk to church in our simple dress, breath the fresh morning air and go to sleep peacefully.
I may not be able to give material things today but I wish to give and share these small blessings we have. I know, giving is better than receiving and I can only offer what I enjoyed most: the simplicity of living.

You are right, being in good health and having the simple joys in life are lots to be thankful for. Just as you do not have material things to give, neither did I, but I still had my family and friends to enjoy the day with. My children had a good Christmas regardless and that's what makes me happy. Soon my friend, things will change for the both of us, and now will seem like a distant memory.
Everyday you can wake up, be in good health, have your family, and sleep peacefully, is a wonderful day and good living. I send you good wishes in the new year. :)

I had a happy holiday. This is the first time that I have celebrated Christmas as a married woman and I am really glad on how my husband's relatives treated me. They are really nice and warm. We are on a tight budget but still we've managed to buy affordable but good presents for our Godchildren, nieces, nephews, brothers and moms.

Miracles do happen...
I am happy that you and your family were able to receive one this season. Many have they just don't know they have. We here are the same, the holiday was very quiet yet we wouldn't allow the depression of our situation take over the day. We were blessed by the church near us with a gift basket of a ham and other food to go with it. So we shared in making the dinner then eating a warm meal together. :)
Sometimes we need to step back and actually see the miracles we do receive. The gifts that are the smallest can turn out to be the most appreciated.

You are absolutely right. Even when we are going through a bad time, we must hold on to hope for a better day. Before we had the surprise come from my neighbor, I kept the holiday cheer for my children to make sure they did not feel bad about not receiving anything. I made sure to give them my time, decorate my house, read stories of Christmas and make little crafts with them. More than toys, my children always love spending time with me, and I made sure to give them that. The gift I want every year is for my children to be happy, and once again I received my gift.
I am very glad that you received a Christmas miracle as well, and just remember things will get better for all of us, as long as we keep hope alive in our hearts.

I am so very glad that you and yours had a lovely Christmas in spite of money problems. The real spirit of Christmas has to do more with love and less with presents.
I remember many years ago, when I was little and my parents did not have much money for Christmas presents. My mom bought the chepest dolls and made a whole wardrobe for my sister´s doll and for mine. She also made a sort of closet to put the clothes with shoe boxes that were covered by a paper resembling wood. Noone in the world had such dolls as those!!!

That is a very creative way to make a good Christmas for your children when you don't have the funds. Your mother was a real thinker. I have been very creative this year, but mostly with meal creation. I could probably make a cookbook out of all the recipes I have created for under $10 a meal. Times have not always been so rough, but this year seems to have hit my family hard. I do know that things will get better sooner than later, because I am due for something good. Thanks for sharing. :)

I had a great time with family and relatives. We drank all night while singing and just having fun. I bought some gifts for cousins and friends and i also recieved some from aunts and uncles (they mostly just give money. I guess they don't wanna think hard on what to give) and we also had games that has prizes. It sounds like a children's party but it actually is nice. My aunt throw the best christmas parties ever.

Wow, I haven't gone to a Christmas party in a long time. It sounds like it was fun. I know at times gift giving can be hard, so I don't think your aunts and uncles were trying to be thoughtless by giving you money, they just probably thought you could buy yourself exactly what you wanted. Its great that you could enjoy Christmas.

Hello there! I had a very happy Christmas this year because after seven long years of wait, I am now conceiving with my second child. However, I have to go on a 2 months bed rest because my baby have a small gestational sac. Thankfully, my baby recovered from it but needs to work it out a little so my doctor extended my bedrest till December 23. Its just a a good timing really because after 2 months of staying at home, i could roam around on Christmas day!
I had a great day with my family. We hear mass together and we visit our relatives after wards. We received gifts, foods and cash but we returned it back to other as well. Its a nice feeling to share no matter how little it is for this thing is a good deed and its just feels good. Have a great day ahead!

There was no miracle for me, just a peaceful day. Thank God for people like your neighbour. It's people like her that make you believe that there is still good in this world and even if times are bad one day they will get better. I hope things will improve for you and your family, Stay strong and don't give up. God sees and knows our needs and one day He will find some way to help you. God bless you.
