We did not do any of these things this year. For the last two years we have visited our families interstate so we have driven a very long way to get there and then driven from place to place on the day.
This year we decided to go on our yearly trip elsewhere and we were just going to have a quiet day at home by ourselves. But then we decided to actually leave on our road trip on Christmas day itself. We opened presents early in the morning and then let the kids play with their presents while we packed the car. We had a friend pop by as well who does not celebrate Christmas so we hung out with her and her daughter in between packing.
We then drove six hours in the rain to our overnight accommodation and had leftovers there for dinner that night!

That is how it works. Some people are on the move, and others are at home. Some of each probably prefer the scenario. Because of circumstances, we were at home for Christmas and did not attend a family gathering that we should have. It is nice to stay home and be a family, but I see the benefit of a family get together. The get togethers really work best when everyone is getting along fairly well.

I stayed at home with my family on Christmas eve. That's kind of tradition of mine. We exchanged gifts, had a Christmas meal together and had a chance to chat with each-other a lot. I guess that can be called a "quality time with the family".

We were definitely the ones that were scrambling around making sure that everyone had the opportunity to see us for the right amount of time. On Christmas Eve we were expected to spend some time with my in-laws and then it has been something that my family has done since I was a child to visit with my dad's side of the family on Christmas Eve as well. On Christmas Day, we did our family thing at home and then we went to my mother's house to do the Christmas thing there as well. I love Christmas, but I am actually kind of glad that it is over until next year.

I was blessed to be able to stay home and have my family to share Christmas with. Even though the food feast seems anticlimactic after the Thanksgiving array, it was still delicious and enjoyed by all.
The gifting was amazing, as usual, spending kept to a minimum through bargains, sales, free samples and wise choices. I have always maintained that it is the "presence" of those I love that I treasure, rather than their "presents". But, even the packaging and bows are appreciated by me, and the gifts are loving.
As a family, we need to gift others in need more, I feel, and above all realize who and what the greatest gift of all and ever is to every person everywhere - an amazingly loving God, Lord and Savior, who paid the price for our failings and has given us life and liberty, and abundance in all things.
Thank you seems so insufficient and little to say to our Yeshua, Jesus, who gave ALL in our stead.

my aunt is the one who host the holidays at her house. which i love. it get's us all of out of the house, and i don't have to do any of the cooking or cleaning up afterward. I think as my children get older I will start to host these special holidays myself so the kids have a home and foundation to come to with their family.

None of the above. I did stay in, other than to go to the bank, but I didn't host Christmas. I just had a (somewhat) quiet Christmas with my husband and our kids. We like to keep it simple for our oldest, who is autistic, after all.
So, what about you mommyboo? Did you host Christmas or did you spend it at someone else's house?

We had a quiet Xmas. My mother-in-law came over for the Xmas Meal and it was all very pleasant and quiet with no problems. I phoned my sister and she had her my niece over with her little girl who had a karioke machine for Xmas. I can hear her singing along at the top of her voice down the phone-line. So it wasn't quite so peaceful there. I don't know whether she had a headache or not later one.. _Derek

seems every one here had a quiet christmas. i would say i have a quiet one too though i had few visitors who came for a very short visit. for the most part of the day, i am just at home watching tv, then went out a bit to do some window shopping for about an hour, then went back home. as i didn't see any thing that interest me to buy. and at night the visitor came and had some few chat before they left. that was how simple my christmas also.

We just stayed home with my family and loved ones. We don't want to go out like to the malls or parks because we know that it will be too crowded.
