Are you good at wrapping gifts?

I have got gifts before that were wrapped beautifully with curly ribbons and no seams..LOL..I am thinking..wow...the time it must have taken, because me...I am not so good at it. I have been wrapping birthday and Christmas presents for a long time now and I still have not mastered this art. I don't do horribly but I am nowhere near the "wrapper" that I have known people to be. The families that my company adopted for Christmas had presents to be wrapped and I told them straight up that I wasn't the one for that job..lol...at least not if they wanted a perfectly wrapped gift. SO are you good at wrapping gift? Any tricks you would like to share if you are? If your not good at it...let us know..I don't feel alone

I don't mind having afew presents to wrap but after a while it really gets tiring. I had a boyfriends years back that had me wrapping all his presents. So I had a dozen or so to wrap for my family and then all of his. Mom, dad, brothers and sisters and all his neices and it just went on and on. I have never had a person expect me to wrap it all since. He had other lovely qualities too. Haha

How about a small business a month before Christmas? Have packages will wrap- $3 or $5 for fancy. I bet if you put up a notice in the right areas you could make some good money. Great job for young kids. Just a thought.

Hi Jen, Wrapping gift pack and me? A never ever affair. Seriously I have never been good at it. Whenever I try to wrap a gift pack it wears something nasty looking shape. Hence I ask my wife to do such things and amazingly she does right. May be women are good at it when compared to me.

No, I'm really not good at wrapping gifts. I do try and do the best that I can, but it doesn't always end up being anything that looks nice or anything. But I try.

Ok I guess I was like you at one point but my significant other as taught me how to do it really good. He wraps and decorates gifts where you don't want to open it. You have to wrap the boxes tightly making creases at the edges of the box. He also tapes strips of ribbon to the middle of the box and curls it with scissors and then takes it to the corners of the box and tapes them then he puts a bow on top of the middle of the box. I now wish I had taken a picture of them to show you.

I'm excellent at wrapping gifts. I learned the best way to get smooth edges was to not use too much paper. If you have a gift that is an odd shape, simply put it in a box to make wrapping easier. I enjoy making bows, but pre-made bows are just as effective.

I'll be contacting you the next time I have to wrap a gift..lol..I might need a walkthrough. The right amount of paper is very tricky. I do really good at bowws and ribbon but that darn paper gives me a fit..lol...thanks for responding.

Aww...see...I always try to put it in the middle. Thanks for the advice! I'll try it that way next time...I might just use some of my leftover wrapping paper and practice..lol...Thanks again.

The right amount of paper is easy. Most people use way too much paper. If you your paper is way too large, don't try saving the paper, all that extra paper is bulky and causes wrinkles. Put the gift to wrapped closer to the edge instead of the center, less sides to trim.

Oh good lord, NO I am horrible at it. I have learned the measuring part and can do a box type package pretty well if I take my time. The odd shaped gifts...forget it. They look like a 5 yr old wrapped them. No...erase that. A 5 yr old could do way better than me any day of the week. I try to find boxes for gifts as much as possible because they are just so much easier to wrap that way....it's all in cutting the paper to the right size.

That rotten paper is what makes it so tough isn't it..and the odd shaped gifts. I always seem to have too much or not enough. Thanks for responding.

Babies don't care and children don't really pay attention. I have never got any complaints but it might be because there was a present insideThanks for responding.

don't worry its the thought that counts plus the gift itself hahaha well i am also not a good wrapper myself. haha but then mine is not that bad, i do put ribbons to make it a bit special but then i do not focus much on the wrapper since they would just tear it up..lol

Oh, I am not good at wrapping gifts at all. It's a real pain in the neck for me. However, I do my best to create nice and beautiful packages, I work hard on them until I am content with how the gift looks. I prefer those readymade gift bags, these are simple to use and require only a name to be written on that little paper slip.

I try really hard at first too. Then I get a little discouraged and just do the best I can. I am kind of bad about waiting until the last minute to wrap anyway. I like the gift bags better too. Check out what Gabs says she does...it was an intersting idea! Thanks for responding.

For some reason, I can always get the first couple of gifts to wrap pretty good. Then, it's pretty much messy after that. It's really weird but true. lol. I wrap gifts a lot better than my BF so I usually feel pretty good about my own after looking at his. lol

Hi, I am also very bad at wrapping gifts. I like to learn this art since I am a slow learner, it would take some time for me to wrap the gifts. Wrapping with beautiful paper is an art in itself and making it into a good gift.

I'm good at it . But then again I used to get great practice.Back when my mom was alive , I would wrap the gifts she gave to others save me. I would use ribbon and bows! It was fun . Her last Christmas we both went a little over board. I started wrapping gifts at 10pm and didn't finish until about 2am!

It was fun, Not a chore. Next year? I have no idea. We Always make lists . This year was sooo easy.Everyone wanted something that was easy to shop for. I never know what to put on my own list until Thanksgiving, save this year. The moment I saw the middle of the movie Crazy Heart, it was on my Christmas list! And I Got it! but what for next Christmas? Who knows.

Good morning Jen, hope u had a great time for Christmas. I am a terrible wrapper. I wrapped all the grandkids things but they could care less how they are wraopped, lol. I had sponge bob paper & i don't know if they even noticed that or not, lol. If i have gifts for adults i put them in bags. I save bags from year to year. my oldest was chunking all the bags in the garbage & i told him not to throw them away. They are always reusable. Hope u have a good sunday.

Not to be off subjest but I am very excited to hear how your Christmas went. I'm with you on that one. I remember one year I took great pains in wrapping everything just perfect..lol..well...as perfect as I could...and those kids tore through that stuff so fast..I thought..they don't give a rat's hiney about how pretty it was..lol. Thanks for responding and I hope you have a great Sunday too.

Thanks for asking, Jen. U are sweet. My christmas was fine. All the kids were here for my dinner christmas eve & everything went smmoth as silk. My little grandaughter is a sweet little thing. I hope to get to know her better. Nearly 3years of her life & mine wasted , to me that's sad. I hope things continue to improve between my son & i. I will never understand why he's acting as he did but maybe things will be better now. Again thank u for asking. hugs.

I missed alot of time with my grandmother but once we were together..it was like we were never apart. I so want you to have both your sons and their families in your life. Take care.

I hate all the wrapping up of gifts and i do find, that it gets rather boring after wrapping up just a few gifts that i have to stop.I tend to get my mother or my daughter to help me wrap all the gifts up as that way it is alot easier, as it is more like a conveyer belt, where i will be breaking the tape and my mother will be wrapping the gifts along with my daughter, that way it halves the time.

I'm not a good wrapper either. When i'm giving a gift, i just buy a well-designed paper bag. I'd rather put the gift in there than wrap it myself. I don't wanna give a gift that looks like a trash.

hello Jen, I know how to wrap a gift but the simple one :D, since i am the only person who can do gift wrapping in any occasion i am the only person who do this things especially during Christmas season.
