hi friends.sounds confusing?
not so.
well thinking back, they say the indian team of the 90's always depends on sachin while batting.
they say its not like he scored a century every 2 matches.his presence alone gives the opposition team nightmares and confident boost for the indian team.
but due to the emergence of some new players who have their own style, though not completely sure of their place in the team, sachin taken a backseat.
but when it comes to bowling, zaheer seems to be the Sachin for the past few years, ever since his comeback.
its not like he takes 3-4 wickets every match.sometimes he gets a wicket alone but his presence alone gives the other young quickies to bowl well resulting in victories.
but just give the news to the opposition that zaheer is hurt, they will probably party all night.
so am i right in saying Zaheer as the New Sachin?

we definitely understood the importance of zaheer in the indian team and what role he plays.i still feel that he may not be 100 % but still he could deliver today and did a fantastic job and its his mere presence which boosts the confidence of the other bowlers.hope india can repeat something similar in second inning too.

Hi Star,
I think you are probably right because Harbhajan has been out of form for quite a long period. He was a match winning bowler for the Indian team for the past few months. But after his poor form only Zaheer seemed to take constant wickets in every matches.Even if he takes a single wicket he will be economical than the other bowlers.During his absence India's bowling has been not up to the level .Yes,Zaheer Khan was a threat for the SOUTH AFRICANS but in his absence they played some great shots against some weak bowling. As long as Zaheer plays for India,he will be a SACHIN in bowling .
Have a happy day.

very rightly said.i totally agree that zaheer has been playing a big roll in indian victory in last few years and in some situation he seems to overtake sachin in this department.as you rightly mentioned that its not about how many wickets he takes but the kind of control he offers to ms dhoni that whenever ms throws ball to zaheer he does deliver and also the inputs and guidance he gives to the new quickies such as ishant ,shree during game does matter a lot.And its the fact that bowlers who wins you test matches and one need quality bowlers to take 20 opposition wickets.and thats why austrailia was the no 1. team for the long time with the bowlers like Mcgrath,Gillespi,Warne in the team.

yes i too totally agree with you that zaheer khan is today one of the most effective and strike bowlers in indian team...but due to some injury problems he is unable to give 100% from some time..and his presence do boost the new bowlers but no bowler is upto the expectation in consistent performance with him :(
so hoping eagarly that some bowler give him backup to get our bowling one of the best as our batting side

Zaheer is certainly a strike baller for India and more often than not he takes opposition wicket at crucial time. Without Zaheer our balling line looks orphan and toothless. Even then I don't think Zaheer has reached the stature of Sachin Tendulkar. Sachin today has been adjudged as all time greatest batsman even greater than legendary Sir Don Bradman. To reach to that stature in balling department Zaheer will take lot of time if at all he will reach there. He is already plagued by injuries. Had it not been for the chronic injuries he is proned to he might have scaled even higher peaks.
