The majority of people in the world don't go to college. They find other jobs and just work there. I think college is a great life experience and also to extend your knowledge. But college doesn't help you get a better job. Its what you do with the knowledge you have and get that find you a great job. In some ways college is important. Are you involved in college? Is it important to you? I just want to get more knowledgeable and apply my self.

You can boost up your confidence level if you attend a college. But in countries like my country it takes your confidence level down..But still if you want to get a good job with a good pay than others you need to have a college degree.Personally i think that a degree holder must apply knowledge and experience that he got from college in real life.No matter whether he got a job in a field that he studied.I know that its very difficult to get every one a college degree. But i say every one must try.Its possible if you try.And try to do what you like.Dont just go an have a degree because others say.Do what you like then money will follow you.

As has been a common saying here as it seems, I think that's a "it depends, really" kind of thing. Which is really is, I think. Some people just aren't meant for college. That's not a good or bad thing, just something I've come to learn. Of course it depends on what you're wanting with working. Things like being a doctor, or lawyer, yeah, I could see college being necessary for something like that. Let's face it...some people do just fine in life without going to college. A lot of successful people out there didn't go to college or dropped out. Not as to say everyone would, but you get the picture. So is it important? I'd have to say yes, generally speaking.

Yes, pursuing a College degree is absolutely important for me and to everyone as well. For me it will serve as our very own passport to our future. In it, our career is based, depending on our field of interest and expertise. If one gets to finish College, there would be a greater possibility of success or opportunity to come to you. And the most important thing is that we earn respect from people. In any jobs you ought to apply for, educational attainment is frequently looked and checked upon, therefore, attaining a college degree increases the probability of getting a better job, or a much deserving job, or even more than just that.

These days, it is extremely important. You can't get a job or get much of a career without a college degree or some kind of education.

It all depends on what kind of job you want. If you want to be a doctor, you're going to have to go to college; however, if you want to be a writer, college may be useful, but maybe not necessary. I went to college for a year, but some things happened that are preventing me from continuing right now. I love learning and I really want to go to college. I am not entirely sure what I want to do however, so maybe it's not necessary. Regardless of anything knowledge is a very valuable thing, whether or not you obtain this through the school system is no matter.

I guess this all depends on what you want out of life and whether you have any major plans in terms of career goals. There are just certain lines of work out there that you cannot secure without having a good college education. College isn't for everyone and there will be those that absolutely hate any form of study. I personally love study and I took a course in Computer Maintenance and Installation at college. I thought that this was very important for me as I have a strong interest in this area. As you say though, college is mostly theory and unless you put what you learn into practise then college isn't going to do you much good. That's a good plan also if you want to attend college for the sake of gaining more knowledge and appying yourself. I have the same mindset although I haven't been in college for a while since my last course in IT. I don't know if I have any plans to return to college but you just don't know what is around the corner. Anyway, regardless of what your plans are I wish you well in this coming new year. Andrew

In Philippines we have people so called "TAMBAY" must of them haven't graduated high school, some just reached grades schools or some have reached college but failed to graduate because of financial crisis and having hard times to get a job because companies here wants to hire college graduates to be sure that the job they'll do will be accurate. I'm one of them, but for me if someone's really determined, focused on his objectives, believe in his own abilities and doesn't let anyone ruin his dreams, the sweet smile of success will be in his way. When I want to get more knowledge I just read books or some articles from the internet or newspapers.

I believe that the impoetance odf colliege in your life has to depend on what you want to do with your life. Not everyone needs a college education. Some dreams and goals need college. Some don't.

College is quite important for several reasons, one being for self satisfaction, self accomplishment, and to gain better pay in certain fields. It is quite an expense as I am still paying the 140K of the loans, but again it depends on the field and what you apply it towards in my opinion.

I was involved in college. That is precious memory for me. Just as you said, college is a great life experience . There, we can not only get professional knowledge, but als, o make friends with different people from different places. You can learn a lot except those things in the books. Yes, sometimes, even if you go to college, after graduation, it is still hard to find a good job. You know , in China, our college education has some problems. What we learnt in colleges cannot be used in our jobs, or many college students don't know how to put those knowledge in to practice. However, I still think we should experience such a period in our life.

Iv met and worked with a lot of people that have been to college, and I must admit I have the same gripe as you about it. Because they study subjects like photography or design and that requires them to have a lot of determination to maybe set up their own business as a photographer. But then they decide they can't be bothered! So what was the point in going? I think it's great if you want to a career that means you have to go to college. Like a doctor, or a lawyer. I think too many people are going that don't actually need to go.

I think it depends a lot on where you live. Different countries, or even different cities within the same country, have varying job sectors that require different levels of education. I think that in most of the United States, college degrees are becoming a necessity for younger generations. Older generations can still get jobs without a degree because they have years of experience, but we younger folks without experience need a college degree to get anything better than a job in fast food. And in many fields of work, it is difficult to get employed until you have a master's or even a doctorate degree.

yeah many people work without going to colegge ,but in many countries you are not sure to find job even with finished colegge,i mean that colegge is very important in life not only for education but also for socializing,i am curentlly on colegge and i can tell you its really good expirience you fell good and important and i have higher self respect, many peple juts say i dont need colegge i can find job without it why to bother yourself going on another five-six years of scholl after highscholl, but even if they find job without colegge i dont think it would be some job where you can sit in office and be boss to other ,those jobs that dont requiere high education level are often hard working jobs, i know there are many people that want to go on colegge but they just cant afford it to go because of high costs, but to those who have chance to go on colegge is say GO you wont regert you will meet many new people and have uniqe expirience in life....

Hi. in our place if you didnt get into any college or even finished college, you will not be able to apply for jobs. It is really that hard because companies now need people with high educational background. So in our place, college is really important.
