Do you think toddlers or baby of 6 months can take spicy foods?

I have a son and I love curries and other spicy food. I have been thinking of introducing spicy food to him but don't know how he will take it. So I was curious if any of mylotters feed their toddlers spicy food? What if you come from a country where spicy foods are your main dishes, do you train your toddler to eat spicy food at a very young age? Can their digestive system take it?

I would be very careful how much spicy food you give your baby only because medications used to cure them are so limited. I can understand you saying that "what if.." you come from a country with spicy food but you have to remember sometimes introducing them to some foods creates allergies. I would wait a little longer, it won't hurt will it?

yeah...you are right. A bit risky introducing hot food to them. Guess I have to wait a little longer.

I definitely wouldn't try out spicy foods on a baby that is just six months old because at that stage in their lives they are just beginning to be exposed to table foods and you want to be vigilant about watching for allergies. The problem with a lot of spicy foods is that they have very many different ingredients. If the child was to have a reaction to something in the food, you really wouldn't know what it was because of the mixture of ingredients.

I love spicy food too but I did not introduce spicy food to my two kids, now age 11 and 5 when they were 6 months. My main concern was that their digestive system may not take it. Now that they are much older, I do encourage them to try spicy food if not, when we dine outside , they end up eating more or less the same food everytime.

well,i think we should be more careful in picking foods for small children or olders. like some people, i like spicy food too. but i don't think you should give a baby of 6 months spicy food. i think spicy food can increase our appetite, but there are lots of bad sides of it.like it will increase the internel heat in the body.especially when the weather is dry, we should pay more attention to eat less such food. so i think you should at least wait your son grow to six years old,to let him eat such food. wish your son healthy and happy.

I never introduced spicy foods to my babies/children and I have never heard of anyone doing this. I waited till they were teenagers and was capable of knowing if they liked it or not. I think spicy foods for babies will damage their insides in someway. I don't think their digestive system can handle such a thing because its not very strong at that age. It probably will create problems that you don't need especially when a toddler/baby can't always explain the pain they are having.

Why would you want to at such a young age ? Just because it's your favorite doesn't necesarily mean it'd be there favorite. Definitely encourage you to wait until your child can communciate with you, when they can tell you if they like it or not or if it's too hot or not.

Becareful with that. I don't think spicy food is good for babies that age. You could have damaged their digestive system. Just like adults, some of us cannot resist the spicyness of the food. And also their tongue might be swallen because of that. Babies are still very sensitive.
