Sale Anybody?

The immediate post Christmas days has the UK in a sales frenzy as retailers slash prices and try to entice us in to buy things that we invariably didn't know that we needed before we went for our walk in the mall etc. It's our version of Black Friday except that it goes on for days. Maybe it's age, but I find the whole thing a huge turn off. I don't have a particular need for anything and whilst I love a bargain, I don't want to traipse around the stores on the offchance that I might see something that might come in handy. Are you a sale lover or are you like me. Don't know what the fuss is about.

I have to admit I buy many of the Christmas presents in the days after Christmas
This is partly because of the discounts, mostly because I'm lazy, and, since I know I won't be meeting those people till three-four days after Christmas, I postpone till the last minute. I manage to get pretty good deals, though.
My grandmother gave me the best advice about sales: when you find an item that you want, but don't need, put it on the list and wait for the sales. However, when discounts are in, make sure you buy only what's on your list - so you avoid the consumer trap... if you find something that looks good, resist impulse shopping and put it on the list for the next sales week.

I do that!
I saw a coat in a shop before Christmas and I fell in love with it and I am hoping to find it in the sales next week. I don't need it but if it is reduced it will come home with me

The holidays ae not over yet here in Italy. We have still got to get through New Year and then the 6th is celebrated too - Epiphany. Then the sales will start!
If I see an item of clothing in the last months of the year that I particularly like or need then I will wait until the sales to go and buy it. If I find it reduced then it's mine otherwise I shall go without - and no doubt find something else while I'm there!
I shall be back in UK next month so please leave a bargain for me!

I can understand leaving something that you actually want until the sales. What I don't understand is the aimless wandering around buying things just becasue they are cheap.
I have left plenty of bargains. I don't look good in skirts and boots anyway! LOL.

I honestly can't see the point either. I really don't understand those people who get up at stupid o'clock in the morning to be the first in the queue either. However, having said that, Mr.Panda got some Christmas decorations for 50p from Homebase today, I don't think he was checking out the sales, I think he just went bimbling. :)

I don't like mall sales as they are always swamped with bargain hunters!
For the most part I stay away from sales because I believe there is a reason why products are sold at a discount:
1. There a better product coming out (gadgets and electronics mostly); or
2. The product is damaged or about to get stale.

I'm actually a sale lover but I still make sure that I just buy what I need or might need. At the very least, I just get something that is useful. I'm that kind of person that is a bit stingy in a lot of ways. But I buy little things just to get that itch to spend off my system. :)

I'm not really a shopper at any time of year. I love the fact that I can order online and don't actually have to go to the shops! However, while trying to navigate your way around headless chickens buying rubbish is bad, I do enjoy finding a bargain. For example, I have just seen a pair of boots I really wanted have been reduced (although they are still too much really.. but I am desperate for a pair... oops, sorry, that's my conscience arguing with itself. What was I saying?)
Oh that was it, I was going to say that, while I don't like shopping, I find the sales are actually quite handy and will be making use of them as I do every year to buy birthday presents for my son and my Mum who have birthdays in January! I am also going to take advantage of the Homebase sale as I need to finish decorating! So, as I say, while I don't like going shopping in the sales (or any other time for that matter), I can see what the fuss is about for some people but then I do know a lot of people who just think they've got a bargain because there was a "sale" sign. Apparently, Selfridges in Birmingham had a sale and people were queueing for THREE hours! I don't understand that, especially as you'd probably have to sell your children to afford anything. That's what I don't get. People who are still paying over the odds for things because the shop has a sale on when, if you looked, you might find the same thing not in a sale but still cheaper. I know, I do these things!

hi pikey not me for one thing I am coughing, sneezing ah choo, blowing my nose, and goughing and sneezing, oh I already mentioned that. the last thing I am interested in right now is a sales. ah choo. sniffle, cough. Unless the store is selling a bona fide cold cure that will stop all the symptoms I just described several times.Yes really the long drawn out sales that go on forever usually turn me off anyway.but right this moment I just want to stay warm an hope my bug soon goes away.ah choo.

Hi p1key! Would like to wish you and your family a belated
Merry Christmas! I stay out of stores because I love sales, but
not crowds. I can shop online and that's even more fun! I have
found a new way to get myself into "trouble" without even leaving
home! And it's easy and fun too~Have a wonderful New Year my
fabulous fishy friend! Love, Opal

We have the same post Christmas sales here in Australia. You always see people on the news the day after Christmas lining up fighting with each other to get into the stores first. I really do not understand that mentality either. I am the same as you, I love a bargain, but if I miss out on something that i really did not need anyway, so be it. I will not lose sleep over it. The mentality of some of these people who fight the crowds for these sales astounds me!

Normally I would but have not been in the mood this year and or last year. I use to run and get the sales after Christmas as to me it was a bargain I could not pass up.
I suppose the age and the lack of money have stepped in these days. LOL.
