Long wait at the restaurant

Last night, my friends called me up for a Christmas dinner, and I go for it. We all meet up in one place, and my friend drove us all. We planned for Olive Garden, but there is a big crowd of people waiting there already. After we ask the wait person, there is probably 30 minutes wait at least. So, out of patience, we left. We headed for Apple Bee's, it is the closed by restaurant, but the wait is also long enough for us to leave. We went for several restaurants, there are also long line of people waiting too. Without any choice, we just go for IHOP. Surprisingly, there is no wait, and we can get a table immediately, but we want something fancy though. Anyway, we order what we want, and we have great time to get - together from our busy lives. Although the food is not what we look for, but at least we had dinner.

I had a bad time last Dec 24 before Christmas Eve with my girlfriend. After heading from church there were no cabs nor buses to ride on our way home. Times have passed until we finally had a chance to ride a bus, standing all the time due to over-crowd. As we go on our way home, we decided to take a snack first at any restaurant as possible. We are irritated because anywhere's closed! So we went on our own homes starving. We had no choice but to wait until the Christmas supper starts. Ugh! But at least the Dinner was great and the family bonding was superb! Our situation's somehow related, though you got luckier than us. Lol

I have experienced the same situation in my country. Around christmas time it is very had to get a table a restaurant, and sometimes it is almost impossible unles you make a reservation. I remember one year when a friend and I wanted to go out for dinner just before christmas. We walked from place to place, but at every restaurant they told us that there were no empty tables. Eventually we gave up and bought a pizza instead. I like pizza, but we were still a little disappointed because we wanted to eat at on of the Asian restaurants. Around christmas time there are many big groups of people in my country (co-workers etc) who eat christmas dinner at a restaurant and I think that is the reason why it is so hard to find a table.

Hi kingparker!
The reason why we encounter such things is because it's what we call the peak season. Usually, especially at christmas, lots of people tend to dine out and the restaurants we want to dine in can't accomodate such number of customers, sad to say.And these restos are usually our favorite restos.
We can always try some other place where it is not crowded, who knows,we might discover new places we can dine in.
See you around!

Yes... that's a global problem. Waiting long time at the restaurants is a problem that really annoys everyone who have no time and need to dinner.
So fast food restaurants are the most popular ones. They give the food you order almost immediately, so are a good option for those who are short of time and money, because fast food is usually cheaper than other restaurants food.
