The U.S. Postal service is crazy!!
They hire people to come in on busy times and pay $47/hr.
Then when they don't have enough work they tell the guy to go out and drive around and look busy.
He ends up doing half an hours work in an eight hours shift at $47 dollars and hour!!!
Life is crazy aint it?

That is actually crazy. But wanna no the most annoying thing of all. That guy gettingthat wage is only being paid out of the customers. I am not sure if in the states the postal service receives money from the government or not. But if they do, it means that tax payers money is going to pay some guy to do 30 mins work for around $400!
Its ridiclous. I mean, dont get me wrong, i would gladly do that for that muc money, but if that is paid for by tax payers, then i think some heads should roll!

where there is bureaucracy there is waste and there is nothing more bureaucratic than the post office, expect maybe the government itself

I classic example of irresponsible government spending. This is also a classic example of what is wrong with our government. We could get our country out of debt if we could get our government officials to quit spending money that our country does not have.

I agree. I wish there was a way to go through and cut this type of thing without adding another level of bureaucracy

I don't believe this at all but I will check it out with my sister who is a postal worker and has been for about 8 years. I have never heard of such a thing or her mentioning this either. If its true then I now know why the US Postal Service is constantly looking to raise the cost of a stamp.

We need like buttons for these kinds of discussions because you said just what I was thinking. I happen to know that they work long hard hours. Especially the walking routes. Rain, shine, blizzards or tornadoes, doesn't matter. They must walk that route in it all.
The drivers use their own vehicles and have gas and insurance costs. Some days are busier than others at the post office.

The driver was told only to park in one place for less than 1/2 hour so that if someone called they would say the worker was taking a break....It happened in Findlay Ohio 45840

Shame on them for paying this and allowing the tax payers to flip the bill. Personally I know people who are out of work during the holidays and these are people who make anywhere from like $7.00 - $8.00 an hour, who now are making zero.
Funny how life works as the people who make that little money would gladly work for the same little pay they would normally make if they were working.
Life is certainly upside down. Ugh.

I don't know if I could take the money for the little work or not.
I once quit a very good job after 18 months because I didn't feel I was earning what I was being paid

real as can be but I doubt it is common.
The place was way over staffed this year.

I think it is fortunate that it doesn't happen more or we would all be in much worse shape financially

What are you talking about, this is awesome! 47 bucks an hour is great. Although I don't earn this much, I do want to.
