Has anyone ever had the desire to write a book or story and just never sat down to write it? I used to write stories all the time for school and I have had good ideas for story lines just have never sat down to write anything. Has anyone else had this happen?

Good luck to both of you. In my own way I envy you both. Did you take any formal book writing courses or are you just writing in your own style? I feel a little lost in the going about writing to be taken seriously. Maybe I should write what I feel and critique it later. what do you think?

I did until I finally sat down and started writing stuff. I now write articles and other things online. But it really goes in spurts for me since I will write a bunch and then go up to a year without posting another article.

Finding that dedicated time and place to write is still a problem for me. With my work and my kids interupting me all the time I find myself losing my thought processes and that really stresses me out. So I only write when I have a block of time I know I won't get bugged.

It seems that if there isn't a dedicated time frame to devote to writting it can and may get lost in our daily grind of regimented actions. Keep at the writting if it is really something you enjoy doing.

I think everyone suffers from this at one time or another. Not writing things down gets me into a lot of trouble. When I don't write it down, I lose it and away it goes into the idea ether. Sometimes that sucks, but sometimes it's a good thing. There have been plenty of "good" ideas that upon further reflection, I realized were awful and needed to stay up in my head. They needed to mature before they came out of my pen. Still, it is a problem. The only solution I've found is to always carry pen and paper. That way when the idea hits, you scribble it down. But you have to release yourself to scribble just enough of the idea to inspire and not be beholden to writing the next great novel in that one instant.

I have a family member that always gets his greatest thoughts and ideas first thing in the morning. He will scribble them down as they come in and throughout the day will organize them in a manner that will best serve him. At first scribble they may not look like much but random babble, but as reflection persists they turn into complete thoughts and ideas that make sense.

Sometimes the first scribble meant one thing at the time it was scribbled, but then sparks something completely different later on. How the mind processes these things is a mystery, but something happens when we aren't looking and ideas become new and exciting things. Sounds like your family member has the right idea. Sometimes I organise my thoughts, sometimes I let the scribbles lay on the paper waiting to be resurrected sometime in the future.

Ya.Many people undergo this.Inside every person, there is a writer awaiting to be inspired.Only a few people get inspired and among those only a few actually sit down to write for real.I have been thinking to write a short story book for ages.but nothing had gone into real efforts.Happy mylotting.

I feel its kind of sad that our lives get in the way of things like writing. I mean each and everyone of us could have a great story waiting to emerge onto paper. And the only thing that is stopping us is us.
