people like to update their home environment always because technology changed most of the house owners look forward to build in new way and if you want to build in new way what kind of structure do you prefer generally.

We have already made improvements to our house which entailed my husband getting a second job so we could pay for it! Our home was a small three bedroom with one bathroom and a relatively large back yard. We decided to add to the back of the house a lounge room, master bedroom with adjoining bathroom and toilet. It was completed five years ago and my husband is back to working just one job. It was a sacrifice worth making we think!

I think it is a good idea to save money and to use it for home improvement. I think it would be good to add additional bedrooms to the house.

If I were to change something in my house, I would tend towards the eco-friendly and conserving power, maybe I would install solar power on some sectons of the house or some kind of wind turbine, also I would add more trees and add more vegetable to our garden to make it self reliant. I would also construct rain collectors or rain barrels to conserve water.

I also like to have a eco friendly house. The solar power is costly. I hope some day I get enough money to buy solar system and have at least some lights and fans on solar system.

I have not done much home improvement. There are lots of ideas in my mind, but considering the finances I put forth it. Some day I want to have solar system in which I can have at least two lights and two fans with the power of solar energy so that I can save electricity and also save electricity bills. I like to have rainwater harvesting system so that I can save some water also. I like eco friendly houses and some day hope to make ecofriendly in my house.

I will be moving into a new house soon. It is in a housing estate and all the houses are uniformed. Before I move in I would want to do some renovations to extend the balcony as I like to spend my time reading while sipping hot coffee in a balcony. I will hire a good interior decorator to make my house a comfortable home.

I think you have good plans to move another home and will stay that home some years or not?

I'm not sure exactly whether you wish to discuss minor renovations, which I've been doing this past couple of years, or major renovations or a whole re-build? If I had the opportunity, I'd bulldoze the lot down & just keep the foundations, which should be OK still, as it was only built in 1992 (by dodgy brothers inc. aka AV Jennings!). I used to like the idea of a double-brick structure, as I absolutely can't stand steel & timber frames get eaten by termites & super-mites. But I reckon these days I'd go for building with strawbales or even hemp, which came up in a recent discussion by RawBill1. It's very possible to design homes these days in such a way, in this climate, to never need heating nor cooling. I'd like to let as much sunlight in as possible too via skylights. Then I'd slap on a few coats of that photovoltaic paint, so I could just literally plug an appliance into the wall when it was bright enough & run the whole show for free! I've been to lots of sustainable housing expos & walkthroughs over the years & it is good to see so many taking advantage of the various ways we can now affordably live by independant means.
