This evening, I was having a hard time with my headache and my friend told me to drink coke and it will ease the pain.
To my surprise he gave me some coke that he just bought from Mc donald, and It works! I felt no pain for a while... but with time, the pain came again but not as much as before.
Is it true? or is it my imagination? Can someone explain to me?

coke contains caffeine. and there are some research that shows caffeine can cause mild analgesic effect, which means can relieve pain in a short period of time. some people who go to the gym takes coffee after workout to lessen muscle sores they might feel. coffee also contains caffeine. despite of these researches, coke is still not the best remedy for headache. over the counter mefenamic, paracetamol(acetaminophen) , ibuprofen can help for aches. but always do remember that if symptoms persists, always best to consult a doctor, for headache may not only be a mere pain, it may also come from from underlying serious medical condition.

I used to get really bad migraine headaches and my doctor prescriped me a medication I believe it is called "cafergot" and caffeine was one of the ingredients and it was the only medication that actually helped relieve my headaches. I have also heard some folks say choclate can help with headaches as well.

Coke can be use as cure for most simple ailments. I have heard this from my grandmother whenever I have fever. It lowers my body temperature. Provided that it is not cold from the refrigerator. I also read in an herbal book that it treats loose bowel movement as well better than Sprite soda from the same company who manufactures it. This is the first time I learn that it can be use to treat minor head aches.

Coke is not a remedy for a headache, but if you often drink products with caffeine it can explain why it made your headache dissappear for a while. Caffeine can cause addiction, and if you don't drink it for a while, your body will start having withdrawal sympthoms, like a headache. If you consume something with caffeine, then the sympthoms dissappear.
In case you don't often drink products with caffeine I don't have an explanation for that, but I'm glad you got rid of your headache even if it was only for a little while.

I think coke contains the carbonates and that is harmful for our bones. It also causes the dehydration so you will lose the water from your body and then it will create the deficiency of water in there. So I count that coke have all the negative affects here.
I don't use coke anymore. I don't think that coke helped you with your headache. I am sure it was just an imagination.

I belive coke is not a remedy for headache. It is just an imagination. Coke is not a prescription for headache it is just a soft drink. Even too much of coke is not good for health. May be the headache is due to some other reasons.

Water would be better than coke. I also find that pressure points help relieve the pain many times.

It should make a headache worse because caffeine acts as a neurotransmitter so it should make you feel more of anything.
However if the headache was caused by dehydration drinking coke would give a net fluid gain despite the diaretic effects (but it would still help less than water)

Hello friend, for me it helps, but not because i'm drinking Coke, but because usually i have low blood pressure and the Coke stabilize it. You need to check your blood pressure and to see if something is wrong there. Coke contains caffeine, it will be the same if you have low blood pressure usually and you drink coffee, but at the same time caffeine is not so good enemy of the headache, because it makes us to go to toilet often and out body will be out of water if we drink too much.
I would suggest you to drink more water, to eat chocolate when you have headache and to check what is the reason for the headache, because if it is blood pressure the Coke won't help you for long time.

Caffeine can cause a headache, but more often, it cures them, especially in combination with something else, such as tylenol, or even water, because it opens up the passageways to your brain letting the "good stuff" in faster. Many migraine and headache medications contain caffeine as one of the ingredients. I am a long-time migraine sufferer, and, for me, the combination of caffeine, water, and some food will usually do the trick if I drink/eat enough soon enough. If not, more caffeine with tylenol or advil works well for me.

Did you drink lots of coke or coffee before the headache? It could be a habit forming substance most probably caffeine that your body had been used to , so every time the blood level of the substance goes down, you experience the headache. Just a guess, that you have a false notion that coke cures the headache when in fact your are satisfying blood level amounts of the habit forming substance.
