I am a Christian, but there are a few mainstream Christian doctrines that I just don't understand, nor can I find them anywhere in the Holy Bible.
For instance, the Protestant concept of what we'll be doing in Heaven.
Do you really believe we'll be bowing at Christ's feet forever? Is so, where in the Bible is that taught?
Now, I have no doubt that "every knee shall bow, and tongue confess to God" (Rom 14:11 (KJV)), so we will be bowing at his feet at some point. But from reading Revelations, I see that we won't stay bowing long.
"To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne." Rev 3:21 (KJV)
If we'll be sitting with Christ as He sits with the Father, I don't see where we'll be bowing in worship forever.

There is a lot that you don't understand.
People have a mind on their own (that's the part you don't understand).
I was baptise as a christian catholic.
Nobobody did ask for my advise on this.
It was my parents decision.
So I am catholic, and I have never had any desire to change that.
But all the same, while I accept what I am, I refuse to practice it and I have not set foot in a church since the age of 12.
From what I have observed in my life time, every religion are a bunch of hypocrites.
Let me ask you this...
It seems that Christmas has set you on the religion footpath.
Why are people so scare of dying if Paradise is the ultimate paradise?
Should not we want to die as quickly as possible to get there?
Why are we so concern about people dying?
Is this not a contradiction in terms?

Aussie, actually, I get that question a lot from Atheists. However, I really don't understand the point. When I make plans for the future, I'm not forgoing the present. I do look forward to eternity with Our Heavenly Father, however, that is all in good time. There is too much to experience in this life for me to just give it all up for "paradise now". Besides, it would be kind of selfish of me to voluntarily leave those who love me, just to get to heaven sooner.
As far as every religion being full of a bunch of hypocrites, speak for yourself. You're the one planning the deaths of half the population, while at the same time lying through your teeth about how you care about people.

I never said I cared about the people.
I care about humanity and the planet as a whole.
And as long as the people are intend on destroying the planet to satisfy their own selfish needs, they are on a path to driving humanity to extinction.
So don't tell me that people care about people.
They only care about themselve and their God.
So why should I care about people?
I only care about people who have learned to use their brain.
And you are not one of them.
You are quite a hilarious little thing.
Always screaming about your rights and freedom under your precious constitution.
While being quite happy to be the slave of God.

Well... according to Islam... I only have to kill someone who piss me off... like you... in order to go to Paradise.

Among all of the responders to your post, I will make something different. That is answering your question instead of arguing about existence of GOD.
"every knee shall bow, and tongue confess to God" (Rom 14:11 (KJV)), & "To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne." Rev 3:21 (KJV).
We who believe in Him will sit with God together in His throne. But those who don't believe will kneel beg for forgiveness and finally confess that God really exist. But it is too late for them. For all their live they have been given a chance to believe in Him and foolow His way, but yet they refuse. When they realise God is the mighty one, they will kneel to his feet beg for Him to forgive them and not throw them to the lake of fire. The mouth that refuse say the word God and heart that refuse to believe in His existence will finally confess that they are wrong and now they do believe in God.

and then there's that thing Protestants think that we all lay in the ground until one universal Judgment Day. What's with that? they think its "unfair" that someone would be in heaven longer than others... That's like those who labored in the field all during the heat of the day and got paid the same as those who came in the 11th hour...

I love that you don't just take things people say as if they are the absolute truth! Questions are what keeps knowledge growing and moving! I can't say that there is any scripture as you said - that we'll be bowing forever at His feet. I personally think we will continue learning and growing as we are a spiritual being. We'll still be the same being when time is done and kind of pick up from where we left off. but I can't prove that either! That's just my opinion --

I think we will continue to learn and grow too. In fact, I believe that the true meaning of "hell" is being held back from any further growth.

I think it is a separation from God.. which would hold us back from growing as well...

Hi ParaTed2K,
I am just going to be happy to be in heaven, I am going to be willing to do whatever they require me to do. I don't think any of really know how it will be when heaven calls for us. Even our Christian leaders, I think, are just guessing about what and when. I am excited about the possibility of walking around heaven all day.

You're probably right, but only to a point. If The Bible teaches something, I think it's the responsibility of all Christians to learn it.

I totally agree that we should do our best to understand the teaching of the bible, but we will not understand every verse rended in the scriptures, no possible way. So, while I think it is a good idea to stay in the word, I don't think we should obess over the word of God. He will make it plan to us in due time.

To me religion is private, like shutting the bathroom do when doing business private. If I get asked what is your religion? I answer to know that there is a beign of love, and faithful, my business. I will not convert those who wish not to be convert but will pray that God will bless them as he did me. I think that each person will have to find their own way or path to what will make them religous and spiritually happy. I try not to judge, I try to understand, and put myself in the person's shoes, and walk their life, or try to. See, If God, wanted us be his, he will have different times, or situation which a person will have not only a mindful, but soulful decison to make. To be honest, God to me is a comfort, a love, a peace, and understanding, accepting being that is always around. I don't believe everything I read, I just read for the fun, the understanding, the will, and to have information that could or would not only help me but those in need. He is special and to me he is all, yet, the way I believe in him, the way I decide to worship him is private, I sing of gospel, I read at times, I walk my path knowing that when I'm weak and I can't go on, he is there to pick me up and carry me until I gain the strength to go one, knowing he is right there when I need him.

Remember God is the King of Kings, the Lord of the Lords. We shall bow to God as He will determine our paths. I am sure that this is why we came to church every Sunday to worship Him as I think He has given us so much blessings. Our church is a reformed Church, bow to God's teachings in theology and doctrines. I think that we as dedicated Christians should always bow to Him forever.

I don't see that, either. God is highly intelligent, to say the least, and intelligent people would quickly be bored with ingratiating behavior. I think that we will revel in being close to God at last but we will have some type of work--we will be taking care of those "down" here or on other worlds or some other type of work.

I am a Christian but not fundamentalist. For example hell - to me - would be separation from God. The writers at that time used words and concepts that would be familiar to them. do not know what heaven would be like but possibly state of bliss. We would not have human form and this is another anomaly of the writers. and now someone is going to respond and crucify me for not believing every word written.

I believe the "Throne" is just a conceptual word too. It's interesting to note that Christ never used the word "Hell". He used the word "Gehenna", which was just the garbage dump outside of Jerusalem where trash was burned.

I don't know of any where in the Bible that it says that either, but what you need to remember is that these are "religious" teachings. Each religion has broken off from another form of religion at some point in history, all because there was something they didn't like or agree with. The they put in their own idea of how things should be and formed a "new" religion. I've found it best to study the Bible for yourself. If your heart is filled with love and your intentions are true, the truth will be revealed to you! I also don't waste to much time trying to figure out where or why some people think and believe the way they do. The way I look at it is...We will all have to answer to God at some point, so I try to make sure I do what I feel is right.

That's why I quoted scripture directly, so I wouldn't be putting anyone else's influence on it... including my own.

I am Orthodox Christian. I have NO clue where did the protestants came with that concept.
Absolutely no, we are not gonna be bowing all the time on the feet of Christ. He called us his sons and gave us the reward of being with him to njoy him, not to bwo all the time on his feet.
The book of revelation just mentioned that ppl in heaven bow their heads infront of the of sitting on the throne form time to time...not bowing on his feet all the time! How are we going to enjoy his presence if we are bowing on his feet all the time!

i wont dis agree nor agree but all i want to say is that
you are right that in some time we will bowing in Gods feet
but those who are worthy of Christ's sanctity will sit beside Him with His Father..
:)
yes we kneel down but when we bow that shows extreme faith and belief in Him :)
Godspeed :)
