Would you still use your TV if it didn't have a remote?

Dear MyLotters
The batteries in my TV remote are dead, which got me wondering, would you still use your TV regularly if remotes were not available? With all the digital cable services that have hundreds of channels it would take forever to get to the channel you want and you would always have to get up if you wanted to adjust anything. So would you or would you not?

LOL, I do not think I could unless I would leave on one specific channel. This makes me lazy right but why should I get up so often.
I would search high and low for a new one as it really would drive me nuts.

You know - it sounds really lazy to say - but probably not! I might watch it on the two or three shows that I really like to watch. And it's not really the remote as much as the mute button I would miss! I hate - HATE commercials! I use the remote to mute it so I don't have to listen to them. But then I also watch football muted because the anouncers get on my nerves too. You can always tell who they are pulling for!

Given the number of channels these days, I think that it would be very hard to navigate without the use of a remote control. Not to mention, I really like using the onscreen tv guide to quickly get to a channel. I think that a television remote these days is rather essential to living. Back when it was thirty or forty channels or even less for those much older than me, it was not needed. These days with all of the bells and whistles, it is very needed.
