England won the prestigious ASHES win in australia after long 24 years.
this has been a worst ASHES defeat for australia in australia that too under pontings captaincy
I think this is the worst defeat for australia under pontings captaincy.
as a batsman also he was a big failure in the series, his batting avg in this series was just around 15.
After a long 24 years england managed to win the Ashes in australian soil.
ponting in the recent past has been struggling to captain the side effectively.
the main reason for this is the retirement of key players and injuries.
ponting took the captaincy from the great aus captain steve waugh, infact, ponting captained the side built by waugh.
but the players built by steve waugh retired as the time passed and ponting felt struggling.
gilly, hayden, langer, martin,Mcgrath, S.Warne and many.
there was no need to captain the side where every player perform their job very well.
but those players retired and ponting is feeling the heat, now he really faces, the captaincy problems.
bret lee was another good bowlers, but he has been in and out of the team due to injuries.
how ever i feel that its time for ponting to step down the captaincy.
what do you think??

Ya,me too thinks that Poanting should quit from the team and captaincy.
He has some talent in batting.
But in the recent time he is also struggling with it also.
And He is not a good captain.
The team has been in the top only because of the talented players like Gilly,Hayden,Symonds,Mcgrath,Lee ,etc, etc.
I think he should stop playing cricket and give the new commers chance.
And England had wonn the Ashes in AUS after 24 long yers.
Congratulations for him.
England has been one of the most impressive tean in recent cricket.
They are absolutly brilliant.

I have been saying this for quite some time that Ponting is not such a great captain. He won because he had the greatest team. Now that those people are gone his lack of foresight is quite visible. It was clear that there was no succession planning or grooming of youngsters which any captain with a long reign has to plan for. Nor was there a plan B to grind out results when things are not going well.
I would actually be happy if he continues as the Aussie captain, I do not want them to get stronger :)
Cheers!

ya that was what i meant too.
he is just a poor captain.
he was like a captain of team where 11 machines did thier job neately.
but now the players who played like machines have retired and aus cricket is in big trouble.
dont worry if ponting is not captaining, its clarke, he too dont know how to captain the team.
Cheers!

Ponting is a very good player but a very bad behaving person. He had the chance when his finger was broken he should not had played in the 4 th test but he played and gone down.
I feel he should take 6 months drop from the test cricket and play in the domestic competition .

well, taking 6 month gap in aus cricket and coming back will be very big task.
aus board is not like any other boards, they took away their great captain steve waugh away from aus captaincy due to a defeat that they faced in a home series.
same thing may happen here with ponting too.
i think aus board will wait till worldcup, as its so near, and if aus dont won the world cup, i am sure ponting will be kicked away.

Great teams make great captains. For very long ponting was leading a great team filled with great stars. They were on top of the world. Now ponting is leading a mediocre and new team and that is the reason for these hiccups. Putting someone in his position is not going to make a difference. He is a person with loads of experience and there can be no one to fill his shoes for the coming world cup. I think the Australian board will make a call after this World Cup.

ya me too thinks that aus board will make the call after this world cup, but that call is clear, ponting will be kicked away.
i never rate pontingas a great captain, but steve waugh was a great captain, its the team built by steve which gave australians the success.
he was a captain who was able to find the talent of the player, improve their talent, helped the players, just done every thing that a captain has to do.
ponting just captained the side that was made by great waugh, when the weapons added by steve waugh retired from the team, ponting is now searching for weapon.
thats why i say that ponting is not a good captain.
