Comparison between Win32 API and POSIX API

Hello techie guys out there.. :D Does anyone of you the difference between these two API? Win32 and POSIX... well, it's actually a homework in our Operating Systems subject.. well, I know what an API is, its like a set of routines wherein a app program calls i think another app program or maybe just a program.. So is there by any chance who actually experienced using these two programming interfaces? Are they kinda different in the way they call method or do system calls? Or which is faster? Win32 or POSIX...? I'll be glad to hear comments! Have a nice day! :D
