What is your background noise?

I have a tendency to multi-task when I write. I know that sounds silly, but, I can't stand it to be quiet for to long, for what ever reason I need some other sounds going on around me. Not just the pounding of my fingers on the keyboard of my computer or the scratching of the pen on a sheet of paper.
So, what do I do? I'll put in a movie or turn on some music to help keep my rhythm going. I will admit there are times when I will stop writing to glance up at the movie that might be playing or even start to sing to the music that is playing.

It depends on my mood. I don't usually like having a background while writing, 'cause it distracts me. I prefere silence. :) But when I found something that inspired me, then I start to listening to a song, or a BGM in loop forever.

That's interesting. I find having something playing in the background helps me to write more or to come up with different ideas. For example, if I'm listening to a movie, I can actually come up with ideas about "what may have happened next." This is a great writing exercise, especially when haven't been writing in a while and are looking for something to get you back into the swing of it.
