There are so many differences I have learnt about the traditions and customs of all the different countries represented by members on Mylot. When I was looking at my Christmas photos and found this one of my 14 year old son, Jack, with his niece and my granddaughter, 3 month old Olivia, as he helped her pull her first Christmas Cracker, I wondered if most countries have these crackers or is it just a British thing. So do you have Christmas Crackers in your country too?

we can find them here in the States, but only because those of us who love all things British have "borrowed" them - and we don't see them as a family thing unless the whole family is into it. We see them on Doctor Who and like them

I think they came about after the Revolution and for a while there a lot of British traditions were shunned.

No, I've never heard of that over here. I've only had those kinds of things at birthday parties or on our Independence Day (4th of July), but we do have them. Well, we USED to. I'm not sure whether they're still around or not as I haven't had any occasion to look for them in many years. I just haven't heard of them as a traditional thing for Christmas before. I can see the kids enjoying them, though. Your granddaughter is becoming quite a little beauty!
