I believe, that no two people have the exact same purpose in life. Similarly, the question can be answered according to each person's purpose of thought. A man tormented, may believe, that the Universe's purpose, is to wreak evil, on the denizen's of the Universe. A happy man may believe, that the Universe gives happiness. The first man, who is tormented, is also in a mental situation, which precedes the happy man, who in turn, is in a state which comes later to the one of unhappiness. If a person knows happiness, first, and unhappiness, later, then he learns to view happiness and unhappiness with equanimity.

There is intelligence far beyond that of mankind. To understand the real purpose of the universe, one must look beyond the ant hill. Mankind's view runs very narrow. All the secrets of the universe stare us in the face. Who can see?? Who can understand??? Who even cares to understand for the first step on the journey of discovery is the desire to discover it all, along with the will to see what is rather than what we want to be.

I'm more inclined to believe in the Torah's version of the universe's beginning. Now, as far as the actual universe's PURPOSE, I'm not exactly sure, but I know there were Biblcial accounts for example in the Psalms that says "The heavens and the earth declare the glory of G-d" or someting similar (it's in Psalm 19, I know that) In the New Testament when our Messiah Yeshua was born, there were wise men dispatched by King Herod that have used astronomy (scientific study of stars) to find the birthplace of the Messiah Yeshua and His Mother Miriam (Mary) As for purposes OUTSIDE the earth, that I honestly haven't given a thought to, but as I think of it, I know the Sun's purpose is to warm us up!

The obvious purpose of the universe is to evolve. It must evolve into something better than what it was before. Scientists have assumed that the Universe came into being after a primordial atom exploded. It is expanding ever since. The universe is made of millions of galaxies, stars and planets. Each of these galaxies comprising stars and planets are drifting away from each other. Primarily the universe consists of things material and immaterial. Material things are made of matter and the things immaterial are made of things spiritual. If we look at our own existence, we are aspiring to become spiritual. Maybe universe too was created to change into spirit. God is the pure spirit. Maybe be the universe too is trying to merge itself into God.
