Whilst attacking people is definitely extreme and not a good thing to do, I generally agree with the anti-fur wearing brigade. I would make a few exceptions for people living in arctic climates where wearing fur is the only viable option, those people are by in large at peace with their local ecosystem anyway.
I think that fur farms or hunting protected species for their coat, is vile and self-centred though. Hunting and killing an animal for the use of its fur is one thing but taking part in a gruesome business, so that you can buy something from a shop, well I think that says a lot about a person and it's the same kind of customer who would happily and ignorantly buy clothes and jewellery that have been made by child labourers or modern day slaves.

Well, I don't agree with you. For example, how do I know that the thing I buy in a supermarket is made by a child or a slave? It is not written on the thing, right? And about fur coat and people who are buying them, well, I think it is the same as with leather shoes or jackets or bags or belts and eating meat. If you eat meat, when you are the same as the person who buys fur coat. It is just my opinion.

I wouldn't attack them but I disagree with it, just like I disagree with leather coats as well. I am a vegetarian and used to be somewhat of an activist. While rarely do I go to demonstrations (OK, NEVER, now) and write letters to companies..I still feel the way I do. I wouldn't criticize someone to their face if they were wearing one, though.

I think you are right! Like every person should have something he believes it's right, but don't force their own opinion or view on this subject to other people. We always need to start from ourselves. Like if I want to protect animals I won't eat meat, won't buy leather things etc. But what my friends is buying and eating, it is his own thing.

I have nothing against fur coats, except that they're so expensive and unnecessarily so. A fur coat should be a practical thing, but it's become a fashion instead.
As far as the animal rights thing... I understand not being cruel to animals and doing things like neutering pets, but that's as far as it needs to go, in my opinion. Attacking someone because they're wearing a fur coat shows a very immature and irresponsible person - not a good way to make a point.

I am totally against real fur coats. I wouldn't ever attack someone wearing one because it is their choice. I understand that rich ladies are the ones that wear real fur coats. As a vegan person I can understand Animal Rights members are upset about people wearing these real fur coats. I am against animal cruelty and the shoes I wear are made out of lorica. This is a vegan material and I wouldn't ever wear leather. I think that leaflet handing out is fine but attacking a person wearing a real fur coat is wrong. In life each person has his or her own moral code plus likes and dislikes. I can choose the clothes I wear and they can wear what they choose too.

I don't like the idea of killing animals for just their fur. I can understand natives in cold climates who also use the animals' meat, but the fur trade in general is inhumane and only for the purpose of human vanity. I oppose it on the same grounds as trophy hunting. On the other hand, people who wear fur that was obtained legally are within their rights and shouldn't be harassed. If people object to the fur trade being legal, they should seek to change the laws.

Because I live in a country that gets really cold during winters, then I guess I am not totally against fur. But if they get it from animals that are already extinct then I guess I am against it.
The reason I say 'I guess' is that fur is usually very expensive, and is out of my radar of affordability.

I live where it gets really cold in winter and I am not against anyone wearing a fur coat. The mink or fox are raised. Not ma many go out into the woods and up here in Canada it is the Native Indians and are they against those who live in the wild making a living?
The ones who attack them, well I think they should pay for them, but apparently they want the fur wearers to get broke. Because even if the lady whose fur coat was splattered with paint by these goons, that may have been her only winter coat and now she has to pay for another coat and out of money she needed for something else.

I am not against anyone wearing fur coats. It is their own free will to choose what they want to wear especially in cold countries where fur coats serve dual purposes as a fashion and a shield from the harsh winter. I think those people who protest must accept the fact that it is alright to wear fur coats from animals that die naturally and not killing animals indiscriminately to harvest their skin for commercial use.

I think that fur coats were essential in an earlier era but now that we have the materials we do to keep us warm, they are unnecessary. Same with hunting--we used to have to do it but now there is no need to go out and kill to put food on the table.
I would not dream of attacking anyone, verbally or physically, for wearing fur but I think that they are shallow, self centered status-seeking people who are unnecessarily cruel to animals.

I think attacking people or throwing paint on people wearing fur coats is a bit extreme there must be a better way for animal rights activist to get there point across without being rude attacking and destroying peoples property, I'm just saying I respect that they care about animal rights but sometimes there actions seem like a bit much in my opinion.
Now to your first question about fur, well I was never really into the whole fur coat thing anyway partly because I have no where to wear a coat like that, and secondly I couldn't afford one even if I wanted one. but apart from the reasons I just mentioned I would not wear real fur because I know how there made and I love animals and I think its horrible that other lifeforms on earth are not valued to some people, and that company's skin animals and kill them just to wear a fancy coat and prove how rich they are or how cool they look seems crazy to me especially knowing how those coats are made.
Don't get me wrong I'm not a fanatic, and I eat meat occasionally, but fur coats are really kind of unnecessary why should more animals be killed for a status symbol, besides there are plenty of good looking and stylish fake fur coats out there for those who like the look of fur.

Well, for me it is really gross! I seen how some of the people take the furs from the animals while they are still alive. Then, clean it up and sell it. What get's me is that people walk around wearing these animals skins. Just picture animals walking around wearing people skins. Same to me. Well, I think I like my own skin the best. Someone ripping my skin off and wearing it is really gross to me. But, hey each his own. "Jeepers Creepers" that is what I think. Watch the movie!!! Peace & Love & Life

Human beings have used the skin of animals to dress since ancient times, so I don't really see how it wasn't wrong then and suddenly it is wrong now. I think people like too much to have something to complain about, and this is an excuse as good as any other. In my case I'm not against fur coats as it's something that has nothing wrong.

Against it. But I won't attack anyone because of that (or because of anything, I abhor violence), or even get involved in other types of protest. While I love animals, I think there are much more worthy causes around, such as helping actual people who are suffering. However, I still respect those who try to do something about animal rights in a peaceful way.

I do not think that these amimaial rights acitiviest have the right to attack persons who wear fur coats. when they attack, the actions are criminal and even terroriest in nature. If this offends them, there are other ways to protest. The persons who want to wear fur coats have the legal right to do so and should not have to live in fear of the activist. I do not own a fur coat, I dont think I can afford one. but if I could I may get one for me or my gf in the future.
