Ingrown toenails hurt so bad

I have an ingrown toenail on my right foot. I have had it for years and years but lately it has gotten so painful that I cant wear many shoes espcially heels and it hurts to walk a lot of the times. I know that I am going to have to go to a pediatrist and have it taken care of but I hate going to doctors all the time and I'm scared.
I heard that they rip the nail out from the base of it so it will grow in normally. I cant imagine how bad that will hurt. I'm sure it wont hurt with the novacain but after it wears off I imagine it will hurt so bad. I also have von willebrands disases so I might bleed pretty bad when the nail is ripped out.

I have had the same problem for over 2 years and I didn't have the money to go to see someone to get it taken care of and still don't. I know it is very painful and I can not wear heels either without it smushing my big toe!! Mine is in by big toe, and I have so many pairs of heels that I have been dying to wear but I can't!
That makes me so sad, I just try to cut around it and dig it out myself but I know when I get some money saved it will have to be done and hopefully soon!!Well good luck to you.

I've had the ingrown toenail for so many years I dont even know how long its been going on. It seems like as long as I can remember. I remember when the skin started growing over the nail and it wasent painful but I didnt realize what was going on. Now that I know I wish I had clipped the skin off there along time ago so I wouldnt be in so much pain now.

Ouch!! I know the feeling maybe we will both get lucky enough to go to see the toe doctor one day and soon It is one of those things you know you don't want to do but must be done kind of like having to go to the dentist no one wants to go but it is necessary!!

I noticed yesterday I am now getting an ingrown toenail on my other pinky toe. I think it is because my pinky toes curl under my other toe and so that toe is getting walked on, on the nail instead of the bottom of the toe. Kind of hard to explain. My dads pinky toes are like that as well. They are so ugly. It looks deformed to me lol. I have medical assitance through the state so it wont cost me anything to go to a foot doctor but I stalled it off for along time because I am scared of what they will do. I've used tea tree oil on my toes for along time hoping it will help but it hasent lol.

Oh that's bad. I never had ingrown on my toenails. Probably because I never remove it from the start. But I know how you felt since my friends told me how painful if ingrown wont be remove in time. Perhaps you should consult doctors in your case. Perhaps not only one doctor so you could have options and the right decision. Forget your worries. It might cause to a bigger problem like infections.

You never cut your toenails? They must get so long! When they get long and break off it hurts so bad sometimes. I used to be afraid to cut my nails when I was a little kid so I wouldnt cut them and this would happen and they would get really long and rip off and bleed. I remember going to my friends house and my toe nails were so long. It was so gross. It must have disgusted my friends parents lol.
