Does Sachin Innings in First Test Last day Humorous r shock r age factor !

I dont think this would have made any difference in the first test match . We lost the match the moment we lost 8th wicket. It was a risk taken (giving more strike to tail) that didnt go right for india . There is no point in discussing such a small issue.

well seems everybody is after the person who started this discussion. actually i was surprised by sachin's tactics.india were 30 + short of south africa's and he let the tail-enders face more deivery when he was supposed to protect them but the thing is the situation. if it was a case where india were bat out either 18 overs to draw the match or score 90 runs to win the match,sachin has to protect the tail at every cost. but what was the situation in the first test? 30 runs behind and even if you scored 40 runs and get out,the south africans are gonna finish it in 2 overs.its a hollow victory. it was a lost cause before the start of day 5. what do you expect? sachin and tail ender to play till tea and leave the south africans a score of 150 to get in the final session? if you must know,within hours after the end of the match,the indians didnt pack up and go. they trained after they lost the test match minutes ago. seems like a team strategy to me. LEAVE THE TAIL TOPROTECT ITSELF.IF THEY WRAP US UP IN 6 TO 9 OVERS,USE THE REMAINING TIME FOR PRACTICE. never question the master.its all FOR THE GREATER GOOD

This is another one of "Blame Sachin because India has drought" kind of discussions. I simply do not understand what problem people have with this legend. He has won more matches for India than anyone else in the history of the game. He has played more match winning innings than anyone else. He has scored more tons than anyone else. And we still have this doubting toms who keep questioning him!! Come off it. He used the same strategy that Laxman did by not protecting the tailenders in the first test. Unfortunately for him the tailenders did not stay with him. Mind you Zaheer who stayed with Laxman was not around. And what do people say, they blame Sachin for not protecting the tail!! Come off it. There will always be people who keep trying to blame him for anything, but believe he is one true legend we have and we should be proud of that. Cheers! Ram

The argument seems without base. I recall similar arguments that were made for Vishwanth against Gavaskar. here are few points to ponder: Sachin comes 1 or 2 down & a pressure situation is created only after sachin gets out!! Lakshman is more likely to come into a pressure situation when 4-5 wickets are lost quickly. For many-many years Sachin carried of the pressure of carrying the entire Indian batting on his shoulders, even during Azhar's captaincy when a few batsmen were gifting their wickets for money. Out of 50 centuries that he has scored, 20 came in winning causes, another 19 in drawn cases, some of them were match saving innings. for argument sake , it can be also be said that lakshman never protects tailenders too, but silly arguments about committed cricketers only shows our petty thinking. What about just enjoying beautiful batting from both these maestros ???

He always was!though he always goes on record claiming he doesn't play for records.just watch him when he nears 100,getting over cautious for his 100,spoiling deliveries specially in odi.For sachin i would say one thing : "He is a great batsman when pressure is ordinary & he is ordinary batsman when pressure is great" !. can you recall 4-5 real pressure innings in tests where sachin played brilliantly & india won or drew from loosing position.u will find hard to recall,reason ,he never really played those kind of pressure innings.look at laxman,in one year he played 3 brilliant innings : in srilanka,against aussies and against SA Just few days back. what sachin did in 2nd test ,1st or 2nd innings,got out cheaply as he always does when in pressure.
