There is a sense of freedom and joy in leaving behind the old and having the opportunity to start anew. A fresh start gives one an opportunity to make new plans and hopes.
That's the feeling that most of us would have as we take another step into the future - 2011. The start of a New Year is usually viewed and welcomed with a sense of anticipation of positive opportunities, luck and prosperity. So, that being the general feeling it is not unusual that people take the opportunities to welcome New Year in a celebratory mood. It is the excuse to eat, drink and be merry. Hopefully caution and moderation will also be on our minds as we join in the merry celebrations.
Let's think back to the good things that happened in 2010 and hope that it repeats itself in mega doses in 2011...like making bundle on the stock market, getting lucky with the lottery draw or getting a promotion.
Every year we age and mature (hopefully) but do we acquire wisdom accordingly? Well, that's best answered by ourselves. There will always be challenges in our lives whether it is the 'old' or 'new' year. We need to take it in our stride and make the best of it. Bear in mind that having a better year or good year is not dependent on a changing calender. There are many factors involved. It is a combination of hard work, timing, good decisions and of course some luck! Here's wishing you a good year ahead and fortune's blessings.

Yes zandi there is a sense of expectation when it comes to a new year. 2010 was a year that brought so many changes [ not just to our family] but for people in general...the world is undergoing a huge change at a very fast pace. Technology is making our lives easier[ in some ways] and on the other hand we have the huge problem with climate changes...which of course it was bound to happen [any way ]regardless of what we do or don't do I personally think Mother Nature will have the last word! at the end of the day. What will happen in 2011 it's remain to be seen I hope with all my heart that will be what we all hope for, no wars,we want peace and understanding, a united people able to communicate all over the world, the end of famine [ there is not reason for it]at this time and age. Here is to you zandi[and family] wishing you the best 2011 ever! fortune blessings to you!

This year alone has seen a lot of destruction to our earth caused by the roar of mother nature. I hope and pray that God will make the new year peaceful and lessen the sufferings due to all these unexpected calamities. I hope everything is well with you and that your place is exempted from the floods that is hitting Australia now.

Yes, 2010 was a negative sort of year and not really that good at all. I think 2010, at least here in the U.K is about reparing the financial damage that has been done by over-spending and helping out the irresponsible bankers who gambled away billions of dollars. It is going to take some getting out of it debt, but I think we should be able to make a difference, provding that trade doesn't get ruined by going O.T.T with the cuts. _Derek

Abuse of government's funds are common everywhere. In the pretext of over spending, these corrupted people who have easy access to these funds are the reasons for the downfall of the country's economy. Hopefully, the new year is able to repair what ever damages done in the past.

Such a positive outlook on life. There should be more people like you in the world. Although I do endeavor to make fresh starts from time to time I often find myself slipping back into old destructive habits. I've actually done better in 2011 than in previous years though so maybe I'm beginning to get the hang of it.

Hi zandi.... Happy new year wishes to you.....
Well, i like your thinking regarding celebration a new year eve and a farewell to the old one. According to me.... i have no sense on the change of a year. I mean nothing special on new year or plan as well. I know i have to run and fulfill my job day to day basis. Just i need not to commit mistake that i had done last year. Have a nice day.

We do acquire wisdom ever year, as do our corporations acquire new and interesting, legal but unethical, ways of swindling us out of our hard earned. I have no doubt that they look forward to doing so for yet another year with only feeble attempts to protect consumers.
