Hello Lotters, I was just a bit upset this morning because there was a lot of people in every corner of the market and not to mention a store that i usually grocery with filled with lines of people. that's because of the crowd of stalls of fire works, breads, trumpets and some so called 12 different fruits for the New Year. Honestly, I don't believe in any of that kind of traditions. there's a lot superstitions too specially in terms of chinese traditions. you know, I just gave those things up, most specially fire works because of my moms asthma, and I don't have to oblige myself buying fire works. Just make noise for a few minutes then eat a Midnight MEAL. I am sure that first day of 2011, it's going to be messy with the siblings and their Kids.

Happy New Year LK!!! I came across of your discussion an hour and a half after New Year's Eve. I am still up because of the coffee I just drank after viewing fireworks. The fireworks weren't from our house. It was from other's house. We do not need to have fireworks display since almost everybody have it. Just a sound innovation, I guess to feel that it is New Year. My grandma and my aunties took some caserole and basin then they made sounds out of it. ..Well, we just watched fireworks outside my grandpa's family house then continued eating after. It was a great laugh after all and then ended up singing Auld Lang Syne.

Hello Maean_19,, Eating in the eve of the New Year is the best thing. Unfortunately, fire works for me are the best thing in terms of watching. Not to mention I was wearing face mask with a orange inside the mask to prevent myself from inhaling too much of the smoke. i like it viewing though. I don't know that song, can you give me a lonk.

Hi LK! Auld Lang Syne was a song arranged by Beethoven. I cannot find something more modern version of the song. Hope you would like this one. Check the link. Not a referral link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lvJRmdN9iyU&feature=related

I also stopped using fireworks. I just enjoyed my meal while watching TV. My mom bought 12 different fruits from the market. She said that we will be lucky if we have them. But I also don't believe in Chinese traditions. They are just traditions which will make people lucky and people will be encouraged to buy them. I do not buy those stuff. They are just a waste of money and I think they do nothing to make you lucky.

Hello Meuji100, Well, It's just a freaking tradition anyways, Chinese culture has fond of sending away bad spirits for a reason. yeah, sometimes i don't really know if these things are true or not. depends on the situation, but again it is indeed a waste of money. i think it's the faith and the will to change you're destiny...
