Hi SdyneyHazelton, it is impossible to give up the current price. The gold and silver bar follows the spot rate with about 10% premium. When you add in the shipping cost, you are looking at 20% premium over spot rate. I just check the price of silver, as of this minute, it is US$30.91. I buy a few bars just four days ago, when the price was $29.20. This is just a per ounce price. Meaning just three grams or so. As you know, gold and silver pricing is international, and quote in United States Dollar. I tried to buy from Singapore companies, but they have a shortage at this moment. Even the mints have shortage now. You can get it after three to four weeks. Factor in the shipping time, I doubt I can show off the silver bars during Chinese New Year.

Just curious! How come you are not buying gold? You mean they don't have silver in Singapore? Would it still be worth it if you need to pay 20% premium over the spot rate?

Hi Sydney, sorry for the late reply. I did not notice this comment until just now. There was a recent report in the business section of the Straits Times about the price of gold and silver. The increase in gold price for year 2010 is 30%. The increase in silver for year 2010 is 70%. From an investment viewpoint, silver is better than gold. Do you know how high is the gold price now? It is slightly less than USD1400 per Troy oz. If I were to buy a 10 oz gold bar, I would not have enough money to eat for the next few months! Are you going to feed me? I definitely cannot eat gold bar for survival. The physical gold bar usually costs a 10% to 20% above the international price. The shipping and insurance cost are extra expense. That means I may have to pay more than S$20,000 just for a silly piece of shiny yellow metal. I think in the next few years, the percentage increase in silver is better than gold. It is worth to buy silver rather than gold. Why not use your paypal money to buy a 10 oz silver bar?

They had a similar promotion in August and then another one in October, so it's likely there will be one next month since they seem to do them every other month!

Hi Carolscash, you can think about it as a kind of saving accounts. After you have at least 500 articles in Triond, you will earn a few dollars a month even when you stop writing. It is good to have a monthly payment when you are writing diligently. It is even better to have a monthly payment when you are not writing at all. That is the best part about passive income.
