I mean why people say that?

People in everyday lives keep saying "i need that" "i need this" "i need those" when they should say "want"instead because need means you need it to survive and want means you simply wanna own it or have it but i mean why do people do that what do you need a statue to survive? do you need a ring to survive? do you need jewelry to survive? do you need a computer/laptop to survive? if you do then you have a life or thats your job or simply your a geek who cannot live without a computer or gadgets

'Want' and 'need' are two different words, but they're used interchangeably I guess because the people that use them can often get what it is they want; when getting it is inevitable, or at least possible, it's less of a want. It's not necessarily a good thing, and your post did make me step back and realise that actually a lot of the things I probably say I 'need' I could live without, but they're the sort of comments now that are said without a second thought really.
