Do your articles end in the wrong category?

Some of my articles tend to end up in the wrong category, even though it is in the right place. I submitted one article about why worthless people get promoted. I was just airing my frustration at seeing worthless people get job promotion, while those who work very hard and know what they are doing, do not get the job promotion. I submitted the article under Society. I meant it to go under sub-category of Work. Guess where it ends up? Society and sub-category Crime. Maybe it is all right after all. Those worthless executives are really criminals.

Sometimes my articles goes to the wrong category too. But you don't need to worry because you can fix it. Go to your "my content" tab, on your article list, there will be "request relocation sub tab" (as far as I remember it's beside the "share sub tab). Then choose the right category for your article. It usually takes 24 hours for it to be relocated. Good luck!

Hi Alwayzzcitra, I do not want to relocate the article. The relocation will cause the page views to disappear. Then you have to re-promote the article again. It is not worthwhile. That particular article has earned four cents in just a day. Even though it is just four cents, I do not want to lose it.

Hi Alwayszzcitra, I guess it is all right if the article is very new, and has not attracted a single page view yet. However, that particular article has more than forty page views before I discover it in wrong category. It is too wasteful to request a relocation and lose all the page views.

Oh really? Geez I didn't know about that! I usually submit relocation request as soon as I find out that it ended in the wrong category. I'll try to take a look from now on. Thanks for sharing it with me

There are instances when categories overlap. Today you can't differentiate between politics and corruption the same way as you can't distinguish sports from fashion. I wanted to write a satire on attire and it invariably ended up in the wrong category fashion. I had no remotest intention of informing my readers anything about the latest fashion trends. My only purpose was to point out the discrepancies in a few contemporary costumes. I wanted to write something about cats, but it was actually a humorous article. I didn't find any category called 'animals' so I had to submit it in 'humor' that not only underestimated its content but also narrowed down its scope. There are several instances when I failed to decide the right category for my article. I published an article on a game that I have been playing for the past few days. So I chose the 'gaming' category. I don't have the slightest idea how it ended up in 'Authspot'. However, the next article that I published on the same game was published in a relevant site.

Hi Getbiswa, I think if you put the cats article in the Pet section, it is more appropriate. Personally I think articles about Pets earn more than articles placed in Authspot. I guess those moderators just read the title, and then select a sub-category. I have similar experience in Triond about wrong categories. However, this one is the funniest of all. Imagine telling your boss that promoting a worthless person is a crime.

HI Getbiswas, I suggest that you do a major rewriting about the stray cat article, give it a new title and post to Triond, under Pet section. I have a limited number of articles in Pet, but I find them good earners. Some of them are very consistent earners, gathering four to twenty page views every day without fail.

I would really like to post it in the pet section. But I wrote that article on stray cats, not the domesticated ones.

My photos end up in the wrong category ALL THE TIME! That's mostly because when you submit a photo, Triond doesn't let you select a category like you can when you submit an article... they pick a category for you based on your tags. And most of the time the categories they pick are really bizarre!

Hi Trickiewoo, I can imagine the frustration. The worst thing is that the moderator in Triond does not really check the content before placing it into categories. I seldom submit photos. Personally I think Redgage is a better place for image. If the editor selects your photo, you can even get a $3 to $5 bonus.

I had that once, I wrote an article on writing, but it got placed on Authspot. I didn't really mind, though. But I understand your frustration. Under crime? How strange. I don't think they even read the articles before it gets categorized, it probably happens automatically.

I think it's the computer that chooses according to some of the words in the title. So at times the article ends up in the wrong category.

Hi Maclanis and 1hopefulman, the placement of articles definite is man-made. The Triond moderator will read the title and chooses a category. I really think they do not bother to read more than the title. Maybe they just see the word worthless and place the article under crime. If the government thinks the same way, the world will be a better place. We can lock up all those rich executives who cause the financial crisis.

I'm still laughing at that one! Is the computer that chooses the category a lot smarter than we think? I've had a couple of articles where I had to re-submit to get in the right category. I'm glad that Triond has a way to fix those kind of errors!

Hi 1hopefulman, actually the moderator is human, not computer. That is why articles are rather slow in publishing during the weekend. I think the moderator has a serious problem with English or eyesight. I guess everyone who reads the title knows that I am referring to job promotion, not promotion in crime.

Hmmm as my point of view I think there is connected to the tags your given might be they found a word that connected to such category have now, that's why happened. In article moderator online they are using one kind of software that scan or read the whole data then automatically determine because if it is manually or reading one by one it will take time, let 1000 or more articles per day submitted, they are unable to read and scan, so most probably special software... see you around

Hi Visavis, if they even bother to read the tags, they will not place it under Crime. My tags are all about job promotion, eg How to get promoted, job promotion etc. All my tags target the keywords relating to promotion. I think the only word in the title that is misleading is the word Worthless. But i cannot imagine why worthless people get promoted is a crime.

This post has reminded me of the category system that was in place here at Mylot. I never ended up with any of mine being wrongly categorised, but have encountered many that were. Of course a lot of those could be due to the poster placing them in a wrong category in the first place.

Every now and again, it does get into some interesting categories. Which where it could kind of sort of fit, I guess but it is interesting. Then again, I just wonder if the Triond people do not really pay attention to the articles all that much, just post them wherever they might fit. Then again, who knows, who really knows, but there can be a few weird choices.

Hi Megamatt, Triond staff ever mentioned that on an average day, 1,000 articles get published. I guess that accounts for the wrong category thing. They just take a look at the title and selects a category for the articles. I think if worthless people are considered as criminals in Triond, Triond must be a very good company.
