And I have another application in the car for the gas station down the road that I plan on filling out and submitting soon.. and there are still a few more places I've yet to visit that I can apply for. I really hope one of these places calls me soon. What's the largest number of applications you've submitted on a single job search?

GL! I hope someone calls you! I don't know how many applications I have submitted at one time. I think before I landed my last job I submitted maybe 5? With my availability being limited my choices in places I could try for were limited.

I am facing that same problem too. I am only available in the evenings, after 5pm. That means stores like the one next door that closes at 8pm, I cannot apply to. Most of the stores in my neighborhood close at 8 or 9. I had to go further out of town to find places that stayed open later.

I know that is where my challenge was as well except I couldn't work til 8pm til ??? But during the holidays they are open til midnight so I was able to get in that way and of course negotiate my availabilty w/ hubby so I may have more opportunity for hours. Here places do stay open til 10-11pm, retail of course so I think you'd do ok here. Only trouble is like right now retailers are letting go of their holiday help rather than hiring them. I know someone came to apply for a job by our work last night and I really wanted to say "don't bother, the hours are gone and they are letting all the holiday people they aren't keeping go" but of course it was not my place to say such a thing.

You must be exhausted working such late shifts. That would be about my real availability too, but I'm hoping FIL will watch the kids in the evenings so I can work. He and MIL did the last time I got a part time job.

i think that the most job applications i have sent off at once would be about 5, i think back then i was offered about 3 of the jobs. That would be a problem you may get, you may get a load of yes's and so you may need to choose which one to take. It is always best to send off for a load as you never know how many people are going for the same jobs. Hope you have some luck and find a job that you enjoy doing and pays well. Good luck.

All of the jobs I'm applying for are for minimum wage.. just retail or food service stuff, nothing major. I just want something.. I don't really care what! I will take the first job that rolls my way that fits my schedule!

I agree that it is better to be active and in work earning than the opposite. Hope you do get some offers and enjoy working.

Hi kats! Happy New Year girlfriend! Hope this one is a great one for you and yours! You don't want to know how many applications I sent out when I was job hunting! It was in the hundreds! But, I was looking for a Full Time, Secretarial/Administrative Assistant/ Medical or Legal Assistant Position which at the time was very difficult to get because there were thousands of other candidates! And I live in a very large area where I was limited because I didn't have a car and had to rely on Public Transportation. Not a very pleasant experience! You situation is totally different so you will have much better luck. Don't get discouraged if it takes time to hear back just keep on sending out applications! You will find something, just be persistent!

That is the field I'll be looking into when I graduate from school in 2 years.. I'm getting my associate's degree as an Administrative Assistant! So hopefully there will be more openings then. I've seen quite a few listed on Craigslist recently.. so hopefully it is a good field to get into!

Good luck on your job hunt. It is so hard these days to find a job. I am glad that you are at least looking for one. I think I have submitted up to 5 applications in one day. Most of them were online and through the state unemployment agency. It is so difficult to find work these days. Good luck! Keep us posted on how you are doing.

Hi, First , I wanna wish you good luck in your job hunting and hope you can get the suitable job soon. After I graduated from my university, I was having hard time to find a job, I sent out lots of resumes, and also went for few interviews but none give me a response back afterward. After waiting and waiting, at last, i got a job which is not related to my field of study. But I also grabbed this job and learnt from experience. To my suprise, I stayed at this company for more than 2 years too. It is not easy to find a good that we like, but as long as, we never give up, we sure can find it.

I have never done more than about 8 in any given period. I am very proud of you for doing this though, it takes a lot of stamina and guts to be so persistent. I hope one of the places calls you really soon.

Oh, I do not even remember, I have been looking all year, but not really hard. I have had three temporary jobs this year. Two of the three were not really supposed to be temporary. One company merged, and I was out of a job. Another one did not have the projected work they had hired for. I knew doing census would be temporary, though.

(Responding to what you posted up above) I still have 1 at home, so working days isn't any easier on me. I'm looking for evenings where my FIL will watch the kids for me. Plus I really do not want to work around children.. I'm not fond of kids anymore, LOL.

My first job hunting experienced, as far as I remembered, I submitted around 10-15 application letters. When I moved in the USA, I experienced the same but most of it was submitted online!

Wow...I remember back when I was 20, I submitted like 10 application form and gets 1 interview. That time, I feel a bit lucky but now I like home employment so I do not apply outside jobs unless when I need more money that year.

Well I've job hunted many times.. sometimes I was really lucky and only had to put in one or two applications before I got a job. This seems to be the most difficult job hunt I've ever had.

I would not enjoy a cleaning job! I am looking primarily for customer service positions.. like a cashier or sales clerk or something.

I filled out at least three applications twice a week for two years and got only one call back. With thousands of people applying for every job over the internet as well as walking in makes it nearly impossible. Good luck to you!

I am not looking for any professional type jobs just yet.. I just want to be a cashier or gas station attendent or something like that. I'm sure eventually I'll get that call back.. it only takes 1!

When I left school back at the end of the 80s I applied for 140 jobs, but because I didn't go to University I got rejection after rejection, that's when they bothered to write back. The first 60 applications were for jobs in the area, computing, that I really wanted to work in, the next 50 were in a job that I wouldn't mind doing such as banking, the final 30 were out of desperation and for anything. In the end I got work as a shelf stacker in a supermarket, but in many ways those years working in a supermarket, working my way up to management were the best. The most annoying part for me was when I did get a response saying that I wasn't suitable but they will keep my application on record. It was just too disheartneing for words because I knew it was a fob off. I do hope one of these applications brings success for you.

I have not applied for anything I'm not qualified to do. I'm looking for something part time in the evenings, so I'm applying at retail stores, supermarkets, restaurants.. things like that. These are all jobs I've had in the past so I have experience. My biggest down fall is that I've not held a job in over 3 years.. and the past 10 years of my employment experience is scarce. I've primarily been a stay at home mom since the twins were born, only occasionally holding part time jobs to help out when needed. I think most employers are going to look down on that! Hopefully I will get lucky and find a place that is so desperate they'll hire me regardless! All I really need is an interview.. just to tell the employer that I do have the experience, but I've taken time off to raise my family.

You small fraction of application I did last year more than 200 applications and only few responded to my application so try more sending by email , look for work also in Craiglist I usually get job in Craiglist than any job site, I know there's some scam people around but 80 percent are Legitimate, so good luck.

It can be very frustrating at times, as I find looking for a job is a full time in itself. So many people being out of work these days you will find the higher percentage out of work seeking for that one position. It is a brand new year, so let's all be positive and continue searching. We cannot wait on the ones that we applied for we have to continue looking and hopefully one will be landed. Funny thing I find is that when you land that one, then several will be calling later. Good luck to you and a very prosperous 2011 to you.

I've never submitted a lot of applications at one time. I was offered my first job without having to fill out any application. Then I cleaned houses for myself and then kept children in my home. I filled out an application at a doctor's office and got that job. They tried to change my hours and I couldn't do it and there were some things going on there that I didn't like so I quit after about a year of being there. I went back to cleaning houses a couple days a week and I stay at home with my child the rest of the time. I hope you find a job soon and they call you back quickly!

Oh wow that's a lot of job applications, what kind of companies you apply, is it random or specific industry? I recall never apply more than 10 and it was done in early stage of my career. I applied for random good companies and did not know which industry I specifically targeted. I landed in financial industries which I still doing until now, in fact I'm moving to other company next month. Wish you all the best for finding the best job for you

I suppose that I've been pretty lucky during those times in my life that I've been on job hunts. The most applications that I ever put in at one time was three applications and that was during a time that I was looking for a seasonal job during the month that I had off of school over the holidays. I ended up with a temporary job at Bath and Body Works. Most of the other jobs I've gotten have been times that I'd only submitted one or two resumes and applications.

When I were jobless after the graduation, I responded to the suitable employment applications for a single post as many as possible. I can not recall the number of applications I sent out. For me, I were very lucky because most of my application I sent out had good responses. It was during the economic peak time in my country. As what I can recall, I got few offers at the same time. ha! ha1 ha! As my advise, we must graduate at the right time to look for jobs.
