Taboo?

I was at a new years party and a friend of a friend was talking about how she wanted to bring another women in the bedroom for something new.
We all agreed that that would be that would be a great idea. (they been together for 4yrs) but her sister was not for it at all. She said that it would breakup their marriage. We all disagreed saying it could bring them even closer. She couldn't see how.
Could you see the pros and cons of bringing another person in the bedroom?
Have you ever thought about it?
Would you discuss bringing another person in the bedroom with your partner if you thought about giving it a try? and if not why?
What do you think about doing something like this?

Yeah, I don't like it :)... my thoughts are that consented, mutual adultery demeans/mutilates the institution of marriage. :) The practice is wrong and it irks me on so many different levels - :) grrrr!!! - that it is wise for me to cease stating my feelings on the subject. :)

I don't see the benefit of this whole idea. Haven't you seen Maury or Jerry Springer?
I could understand it if they were both swingers while they met but just because one thinks it will make things better is no reason. Her sister is out looking for her sister, friends are there for fun. By the way I wouldn't do it in my marriage. I don't think my husband would want something like that either. Big deal 4 years is nothing in a marriage, an accomplishment but still they have a long journey ahead.

I don't undertand either how this could bring them colser. but as long as she's ok with the idea and she does it because SHE WANTS TO DO IT and not FOR HER HUSBAND it's ok, than she should go for iy
