It all depends on what you wish to use the software for. 3d, 2d, Machining, Architectural, Surveying?
I have been in the Moldmaking Industry for 35 years +, and prefer AutoDesk's AutoCad 2006 & Mechanical Desktop for Machining details, assemblies, drawings 3d solids , surfaces & wire frame construction. You can utilize Lisp programming & Visual Basic languages for Database linking & construction.
I also use MasterCam X for for 3d solid model construction & CNC machining of Mold Cavities & some machined parts.
The software is only an extention of your capabilities.
