Lately I've been feeling a little off with a lot of things, even though the holidays are barely just over. I think the holidays made me a little bit sad. I won't make this long anymore because I'm already sleepy, and tired.. I just want to ask everybody, what are the little things in life that makes you happy? Could you give some instances? I just want to know what makes you all feel happy with your life, even those little things..

Well for one thing my kids are right here by my side as I'm typing away on mylot. That makes me happy and sometimes frustrated. It seems if I go downstairs to prepare dinner they will follow within minutes. The oldest is 12 and the youngest 6. Sometimes my son calls me "ok old lady" it doesn't get me upset but reminds me of an old boyfriend I had who used to call his mom "old lady". He passed away but he loved his mom dearly, that is how my son is because he'll come over to hug me. The littlest things my husband helps me with are when he takes over the kids when I can't. He still doesn't get it that I don't care to have materialistic things but once in a while taking charge of our five kids to give me a break.

Wow, 5 kids? I imagine it's a lot tiring huh.. But yes having those kids are nice, although it can be stressful at times. If you don't mind me asking, what happened to your old boyfriend? I'm sorry. And yes sometimes others don't get why we appreciate little things and they don't. It's nice to have something to be thankful for even if it's little. Thanks a lot for your response.

I'm sorry to hear that.. especially that he takes good care of his mom. Good thing you and his mom stayed friends. :)

Oh he overdosed. His mom and me remained good friends over the years after we broke up. He was a very loving son to his mom.

I think that little things in our life are most important, because when we reach the big goals we start to forget that we are just people and nothing more. What little things make me happy? One of all is my family, my mother who loves me more than everything and i am able to talk with her on the phone every day. I appreciate every kind of help from my boyfriend at home, because it's hard for me to handle everything alone - making money and house keeping. But what i mostly want in this year is to spend more time with our friends. This is what i'll try to do, because i'm sure it will make me more than happy. The social life is making us alive and this is what i miss really much - having fun or just drinking coffee with friends, doesn't matter but it's mostly appreciated. Great discussion.

Those kind of things that you have mentioned are really great that I believe nothing in this world could surpass them.. Our family would always be there for us no matter what. What you said about the social is true, and I think that's what I'm missing right now to feel this sad. Thanks a lot for responding.

Having friends around you is such a big richness, i realized it on the new year celebration, because here were 4-5 people and that made me feel so great.

Yes I think so too. I just hope I'll be able to feel that same kind of richness that you have.

We should go out of our way each day to appreciate the little things in life. they can be more important to us than anything else. Little things may not mean much to some people, but they can be worth the world when you find it;s meaning in your life.

hello offlimits! if we want to truly be able to live life to the fullest, we must be able to appreciate the little things in our life, for little things matters..it's what's making up all the great things actually. For me, waking up in the morning to a glorious sunny day makes me feel exuberant and glorious too, happy that i am once again getting the chance to live my life the way God wants me to. Just watching my children laugh over some silly things and i laughing along with them is enough to warm my heart. Just like watching the waves as it kissed the cheek of the sunkissed sand and hearing the drops of rain on our roof are some little things that makes me realize i am truly alive and enjoying the beauty of nature as God had intended for us to enjoy.

Hi there deriellevc73. Yes you're right, even the simplest thing to be thankful for like being alive is forgotten. Sometimes I forget that too, but I try to remind myself once in a while. It's the one thing we must be thankful for everyday despite problems. Thanks a lot for responding.

Staying with my parent can make me happy. I'm a university student. I live far away from my home. I probly have only two periods with my parents-summer hollday and winter holliday. Staying with them, I can talk my studies with them, they tell me news happen in my hometown. That is felicity. Always keep hope in mind can also make you happy. Now the winter holliday is approching, I'm looking forward the winter holliady. It's a kind of happness too.

I know what you mean about being away from parents.. it's really nice to have precious moments with them after all the things we do, considering that we are busy with school, work, etc. Winter sounds good too, although we don't have winter here in our country. Hehe. Thanks a lot for responding.

Thanks for posting this topic. It also made me reflect on the little things that makes me happy. I used to be the materialistic type and my belief before was that whatever material stuff I get (ex. gadgets, traveling, signatured clothes etc.) will make my life complete. I was soo wrong! Now that I have my own family, it made me realize that every moment with them counts. It's my family that makes me happy and 100% complete. My heart melts every time my one year old daughter calls me "mama", or when she tries to hug me when we sleep together, or when my husband is home early from work so he can spend time with the family, and even the fact that we have enough money to cover for all necessities at home. These small things makes me happy and thankful and will not exchange every single moment for any material stuff.

You're welcome. :) Hehe. Wow, I feel like you're really grateful with the things you have right now. That's really good. And I'm sure your daughter is adorable! (I could imagine her calling you 'mama' right now. Hehe). I agree regarding the material things.. they're just temporary. Thanks a lot for responding.

I appreciate most those little things I didn't expect. For instance, when I woke up today for my first day at work after the holidays, it was snowing over here, with lovely, big snowflakes, like in fairy tales. The streets were very peaceful and quiet in the morning, it was like I was all alone in the town with the snow, and it made me happy. Well, happy enough to keep me going for the first two hours at work, at least I think if we manage to enjoy those tiny things in our lives, but at the same time avoid getting annoyed by similarly small things, then we're on the right path to being happy.

Oh yes little surprises are really nice, right? Wow I want to see big snowflakes like in fairy tales too! Maybe that way I'll feel better. Haha. And I agree with your last sentence.. I think sometimes we tend to make things complicated that's why we feel upset so easily. Thanks a lot for your response.
