Did you feel sorry for Debra or did you think she was a shrew? I personally kind of felt sorry for her. I mean sure she was mean to Ray and kind of bullied him. But Ray was so immature and never took up for Debra or stood up to his parents intrusiveness. Ray never wanted to spend time alone with the kids & griped when he had to. Like for instance i remember one episode where he'd promised debra he'd take the kids to the park and he complained about it. She said she wanted 2 hrs and Ray was like "Okay but i'm back HERE (meaning the house) in 2 hours."

I could never understand why that show was so popular. I tried many times to "get into it", but just couldn't. All I could see was the constant bickering, fighting and beratement between the wife and mother-in-law and them each trying to best-up the other and make Ray choose between them or the wife always putting Ray down or mad cause she didn't get her way. I just didn't like it.

I could not have put it so eloquently, I never understood the popularity in it either as when the show was running I tried to watch and could not take it even for the 30 minutes it ran. Then the re-runs come on and I still do not understand why it was as popular and supposedly funny. Very confused on that one.

I didn't know it was old enough to be on TV Land? That's usually for old shows like Leave it to Beaver.

I think since Raymond was successful, funny, nice to the kids, and a generally well-meaning guy, Debra was the one who overreacted. She was mean to his family and if she was so unhappy why did she stay married to him for so many seasons? I think the writers just made her annoying so people could feel sorry for Raymond.

hi halynn I personally detested that silly series about twenty minutes and I was done, too much bickering and silliness that was not even funny to me. I guess my sense of humor does not laugh at people fighting all the time and bickering when I watch TV I want to relax and enjoy it not tense up over all the fighting, Yuck.
