Oh my g I just do not believe it its raining again here in o range county and in Laguna Beach they are still trying to recover after mudslides have damaged artists homes and now damage in this one city is in the millions. our Ca governor has now asked for aid from President Obama as the county and state cannot begin to pay for all the damages. Now more rain and its really pounding. I am nice and warm here inside my room. but I pity those like the police who have to be out in this and emergency people like the para medics.there have even been several deaths due to the storm and one hiker is missing in the sierras.this is no longer funny, its really serious. how is the weather where you are at?

Oh wow, I can only imagine the pain of all that hard work now ruined.:( As for the hiker, well some people do like to hike whether it is warm or cold. Myself I prefer warm weather only because I hate the cold...lol

I can relate because though I don't paint, I have made banners and flags and one time the puppies got into my wardrobe where I kept them. Fortunately my husband was the one to find it and clean it up, not letting me know what fabrics got ruined. It would have upset me terribly if I had known and it has been a long time since I did anything with it, by now I had forgotten what I had..

I feel for the artists there in Laguna Beach it must be awful to see all your hard work ruined by the flooding and I cannot imagine how you could retrieve water damaged painting. I know there are s teps the libraries t ake if books get water damaged but paintings that sounds sort of iffy. I am also one who likes to be warm too and the idea of hiking in a snowstorm would scare the bejabbers out of me. for one thing I was b orn and raised in South D akota and I was taught the dangers of going anywhere on foot in blinding snow storms. You can get lost so easily then just walk in circles until You drop from exhaustion. We were always advised to have extra clo thing, water, and now cellphones in our cars. stay with your vehicle in a blizzard do not try to walk for help. I am just glad to be out of South Dakota winters are too harsh for me.

You guys have been getting a tremendous amount of rain! My in-laws and one of my sister-in-laws live in Ventura County and we have been staying in constant contact with them because of the weather. They say they are fine where they are at, but they know of many people that have been really affected by all the rain. We recently had a lot of rain and major flooding close to me in Nashville Tennessee and a lot of people were completed flooded out. It is terrible when natural disasters like that cause so much damage.

yes indeed but here about all we got was a bit of flooding on some streets in 'Garden Grove. ten miles away on th Pacific Laguna Beach is a disaster area the whgole downtown was flooded and a lot of homes and businesses also hwa mud slided into their homes and their' art businesses. Our governor has asked for federal aid as its in the miullions there. I imagine some homes on the beacch also had some damage from extra high tides of the Pacfic. this w eek has stopped raining and its been sunny and cool here but we are d rying out. alas rain is again predicted for tomorow night. hope its just a gentle rain not one of those we have had before.

That does sound serious. Our weather has been nice lately. We had quite a snow storm about three weeks ago and then it got nice. We have had some rain and alittle wind but not bad at all. I hope the situation in your area gets better soon. Mudslides and such are so scarey. It will take awhile to get back to normal too.

hi celtic the last few days have been dry and sunny but according to the weather people its supposed to rain tomorrow Friday night but they claim it will not be heavy. sure hope not as the ground is so soggy it will just run off now. I am so glad we are on solid ground here. I have seen pictures of those slides and the damage they caused. Some homes were not completely destroyed but I just wonder how on earth they can get all that mud out of the home and still have intact floors and walls

It is amazing what the cleaners can do. I think it is fate too that you and your son were not in an apartment yet too. It could be all full of mud and yuck now. Well, I think when it rains again you need to make yourself a little boat(doesn't have to be fancy or anything) and float on out to Idaho and visit me for a few days. No snow, no rain, its dry and the sun is there but you have to look. Hehe

hi garden gerty yes they have had mudslides and houses torn apart here too. but I should feel more sorry for them but some of the same people persisted in rebuilding on unstable hillside dirt and again hafe lost their homes. Whey do that? I know the views are magnificent but is it worth losing your home twice? I would rather put a home on solid ground myself. oh my I have cousins in Missouri so hope they t oo are alright. what weird weather we are having all over.

Personally I think the issue is more than just California are seeing their problems with some of the Crazy weather areas have been seeing the last couple of months to the point where there may not be the money anywhere to help them. I think personally as a Believer in God and the Bible these are just some of the signs of things yet to come even if we do want to see them. Personally with the Economy the way it is, and now this, it makes you often think, what next?

Hi Hatley...so sorry you are experiencing these awful weather days. It has become serious hasn't it. We are just getting over a severe flood where we were pretty much isolated for a couple of weeks. Some roads were only open to 4WD so most of us had to stay put. It's begun raining again and has been coming down for just over a couple of hours now. It's bringing the temperature down so that is good. Hope you can stay high and dry.

hi mstickle this week has been super, dry now and sun most of the day too, and no nore rain. I was reading how some people in spite of all the flood alerts saying do not drive in deeply flooded streets still did jus that and how many rescue teams were sent out to get people out of stalled cars and some that were on the verge of entire submersion. How dopey can people be? I am both high, live on the second floor and dry too. lol.

Hi Hatley! I don't consider this funny either because there's a lot of people's lives at stake when natural disasters happen. I hope by now the rain has stopped so you guys can dry out. In our area, we've had a bout of snow and then freezing rain/ice on the roads which have shut down the school system because it's too dangerous for the buses to be on but now they're open and the kids are back in school. They may have to use some of their vacation time to make up some of the days that they lost. Sad but it is what it is. Hopefully it's better where you are!

hi quita I am fine but Laguna beach which is about ten milesfrom here is really low and close to the Pacific. they had fire damage last fall on the hills behind a lot of the downtown homes and all the water loosened unstable earth and send mudsliding down into businesses and home too,. Si it became a real disaster area. we justhad a little local flooding here.

Right now it is sunny with just a few clouds and the temperartue is moderate for this time of they year. However, it also looks like there is change on the horizon. It is supposed to get cold again with a chance of snow for the very late part of this week into next week and that is not something that I am really looking forward to. I kind of like it when the temperatures are seasonable for the year and they are expecting it to get downright cold again and that is something that I really don't deal with too well these days.

Hi,Hatley Fortunately,it's been sunny for around one week though the temperature is quite low here. Honestly,I'm not adapted to the big big sun in winter here, the brighter the colder......So I find I'm always played by the fake appearance when I wanna go outside to enjoy the sunshine to make me feel warmer, coz I always find it's really chilled outside eventhough I could get much more sunshine in my room.........So weird, right??

hi macfish yes I know that feeling the sun is shining bright so I go outside to sit and warm myself only to feel its cold enough to'freeze my fingers. This cold weather is really unusual for California , when it gets down to freezing its really unusual. My hands are cold and my fingers are clumsy right now. but its warming up slowly in my room.' the housekeeper had unplugged my space heater and I just now got up and plugged it back in. Its just sprinkling now outside and there was a whole bunch of little birds out there pecking around in the debris from the dumpsters. our room faces the rear of some vietnamese stores. oddley I am in the center of Little Saigon here in Garden Grove California. These are the boat people who fled here from Vietnam and they really make lovely names, very courteous, intelligent and peaceful and very mindful of their elders too.

The weather is just rather dreary. Thankfully no snow. Thankfully no rain. However it is not nice. It is just cold and cloudy all day, every day for the past week or so. I do hope that it clears up. We got a moment of sunshine, a day where the snow melted. Then we're right back to square one. Its frustrating to say the very least but tis the winter weather around here.

After the heavy rains Sunday night we have had dry days with sun so we should be drying out. but more rain is predicted for tomoorow Friday night.I do hope its just a mild rain not a cloud burst. I hope too that Laguna Beach, which is ten miles from here, is going to be left alone so the home and business areas can begin to clearup all the destruction. It has been deemed a disaster area.

I do hope the rain has subsided by now and that the clean up and restoring is underway. I am so glad taht you are indoors and not have to be bothered by all the rain damage. How is your son? Has he been affected by this? Do take care of yourself as with all the raining going on and weather changes you do not want to add to the recent virus you had. Lots of soup and a warm blanket near by.

Our weather here in the Midwest is very strange. We had a couple days when it shot up to the 40's then a day of 50's then 63!! The day after that was 48 then the next we're back to the frigid normal temps. My sons in Phoenix reported snow on the 31st, a most unusual thing. I'm sorry you are being pounded with all this rain! The weather is weird all over but we have weird cycles--I saw a weatherman explaining it the other day, something about the jet streams and El Nino. Spring will soon be here and everything will settle down. In the meantime, think of how your aquifers are being replenished and be grateful for the rain in spite of the destruction.

hi dragon 54u yes this means now that we are not nearly as likely to have those devasatating wild fires this coming fall as we have looked to with dread in other years. One good thing last night it was raining so hard if anyone had a structure fire'started it would soon go out. So the firefighters probably had a peaceful' night unless some dopey person went out in his care into flooded streets and got stranded. Our fire department also contains the paramedics so often when a fire alarem goes out an ambulance with para medics comes along with them..

hi bunny yes we have now lucked into some nice sunny dry days but sadly rain is predicterd again tomorrow night but it could be just normal rain or even just showers. I am concerned for my best friend Nelda They live in a mobile home with an elderly roof that now has decided to leak ' with a vengeance. She is the only one working as her son was just laid off and so far has not got another job. so money is the problem in repairing the roof. she says since she did get credit with Lowes she is going to go ahead' and order the supplies from Lowes and have her son fix the roof. I worry for him as he is overweight and he already had one scare when his foot and leg went through the ceiling close to Nelda's bedroom.she is in her mid seventies and did so want to retire then her son lost his job so back to one paycheck.

It's not raining up here in the Pacific Northwest. But it is cold. The weatherman this morning said it's going to snow this afternoon, which will turn to slush tonight. He also said that the sun will wash everything out by tomorrow. I've seen the barren hills in California. And I could imagine how terrible it is if it keeps raining. I hope it all stopped by now.

Hi Hatley, THe weather in my country here most of the time is sunny but rain occasionally. Although it rain, but it will never like the rain in California, my country is in the world save zone where we do not have the horrible natural disasters like in many country. We do not have earth quake, hurricane and serious flood. I really pity those who became the victim of the natural disaster. Nowadays weather became much unpredictable and is much severe than those old day.
