Down For Everyone Or Just Me Problems

So on the advice of several mylotters, I have tried consulting the "down for everyone else or just me" site when I cannot access a site. The problem is, I don't know if it's very reliable... Checking Onbux the other day, after 2 hours of not being able to log in, it told me that it was just me, and the site was up. I tried again and could not log in, so I checked again, (only a few minutes later) and got "down for everyone". I tried again anyway right away, and I could log in! Today when checking elebux, I got "down for you" then "down for everyone" right after, followed by two "down for you"s. I cleared all the history in my computer, but I still can't access it? Is there a more reliable way to check if a site is up, or is there a better way to fix my connection problems than clearing my history?
