In my childhood, heroes were everywhere. Spiderman, siperman, ironman, green lantern... they would just appear wherever you had a TV and you just believe that the impossible can happen.
When I grow up, I am fond of books, and the heroes lives in books since then. They may just lack of the macgical power, but they have the powerful brain. Sherlock Holmes, Mr. Dubin, Miss Maple... all of them are my beloved characters.
What do you think that a successful caharacter should be portray? Who's your favouite, Harry Potter or the Vampire, Edward? Eager to know.

My favorite character right now are Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson. :) I like Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's novels, how Holmes is capable to solve any mistery just with the power of his brain. And how Watson is able to follow him in any adventure.

I haven't read these, either. I've heard people compare the tv character House to Holmes, so maybe I would like them. I wish I had more time to read everything!

One of my favourite characters is Detective Jane Rizzoli from the Rizzoli&Isles series written by Tess Gerritsen (right now TNT is doing a tv show and Jane is played by Angie Harmon). I simply LOVE strong female characters that are interesting enough to carry an entire novel. In mystery writing, I also like Amelia Sachs and Katherine Dance written by Jeffery Deaver.
From classics, I love Elisabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice, she rocks.

anne of green gables is the best character that has been ever created. the canadian books written by lucy maude montgomery in the early 1900's tell of a girl who was adopted by an older brother and sister and about the scrapes she gets into (including dying her hair green because she hates her red hair!)

Somehow I managed to get through my childhood without reading those books. A lot of people seem to really like them, though. I've been thinking I should check them out.

I hven't read the twilight books but I do like Harry Potter! When I was a child one of my favorites was the Little House series by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I was about 10 or 11 when I found out Little House On the Prairie was going to be a tv series. I was so excited and I thought the little girl who got to play Laura (Melissa Gilbert) must be about the luckiest girl in the world! I didn't like the series as much after a couple years when the stories started being too different from the books, but I still remember the excitement of seeing one of my favorite books on the screen, especially when Nellie Oleson turned out to be even meaner than in the books! She was one of those characters people love to hate.
